Chewy Gift Card Terms and Conditions

Purchase, acceptance, or use of the Chewy Gift Card means accepting the following terms:

  1. General Terms. Chewy Gift Cards are issued by Chewy Canada, Inc. (“Chewy”), who is the sole obligor to the Chewy Gift Card owner. Chewy’s address is 7398 Yonge St, Suite 6D-783, Thornhill, ON L4J 8J2. Chewy Gift Cards are distributed at Chewy.com/ca by Chewy or through third parties in Canada. Purchase and/or use is subject to the Chewy Terms of Use for Canada, including arbitration agreement where applicable. Capitalized terms not defined in these Chewy Canada Gift Card Terms & Conditions (“Gift Card Terms”), have the meaning set out in the Chewy Terms of Use for Canada. Chewy Gift Cards include plastic or physical gift cards, other stored value cards, digital gift cards (or “eGift Cards”), or other digital stored value cards (collectively, also including Promotional Cards are hereinafter referred to as “Gift Card”, “Gift Cards”, “Chewy Gift Card” or “Chewy Gift Cards”). These Gift Card Terms also apply to Gift Cards which are issued for reduced or no consideration as part of a promotion (“Promotional Cards”). The purchase and/or use of a Gift Card constitutes your acceptance of these Gift Card Terms.

  Chewy reserves the right to change these Gift Card Terms from time to time in its discretion. Where required by the law of the province in which you reside, we will provide    you with notice of any substantial changes to these Gift Card Terms coming into effect by email, a notice in your Account or on our Site as required by law. You agree to        accept any changes as a condition of your maintaining or continuing to use the Gift Cards.

2. Gift Cards Redemption. Gift Cards are redeemable for merchandise and services purchased by residents of Canada at Chewy.com/ca, for delivery of merchandise or services to be performed within Chewy’s delivery areas. Gift Cards are not credit or debit cards but constitute a prepayment on the cost of purchases on Chewy.com/ca. Gift Cards may not be used for purchases of Chewy, Inc.’s merchandise or services in the United States or on chewy.com. Gift Cards cannot be purchased with coupons, promotional offers and are not Autoship eligible. Gift Cards cannot be used to buy other gift cards or similar stored value products. You may use more than one Gift Card per order. Except for Promotional Cards, which may have an expiry date printed on the front of the card or card image, or disclosed in the Gift Card email or otherwise, Gift Cards do not expire. There are no fees on any Gift Card. Gift Cards are not redeemable for cash, except where required by law. Once deposited into a Chewy Account, Gift Cards are not transferable from one Chewy Account to another. If a purchase exceeds your total Gift Card balance, the remaining amount must be paid with another payment method.

3. Purchase Limitations. Gift Cards must be purchased in Canadian Dollars. The maximum value on any one Gift Card is CA $2,000 and total purchases of Gift Cards by any one individual may not exceed CA $10,000 in any one day. Unused Gift Cards may not be transferred. If you return merchandise originally purchased with a Gift Card, any refund will be issued to the Gift Card or in the form of another Gift Card. Any merchandise purchased with a Gift Card is subject to the applicable store or online return policies. Gift Cards may be used as personal or business gifts, but may not be reloaded, resold, or used for payment outside of www.chewy.com/ca.

4. View Your Balance. There are two ways to determine your Gift Card balance: (1) by going to your Chewy Account at http://www.chewy.com/ca, where all Gift Cards associated with your Chewy Account will be displayed along with total balance information; or (2) by calling Chewy Customer Service at 1-844-422-4399.

Subject to limited exceptions, you may not return or cancel your Gift Card after activation. If you received a Promotional Card as a result of a promotion where a purchase of a product is required and you subsequently return the qualifying product(s) or the order is otherwise cancelled prior to shipment, Chewy may cancel the Promotional Card or deduct the value of the Promotional Card you received from the amount refunded to you upon return of the item.

5. Lost or Stolen Gift Cards. If you suspect that someone has copied or stolen your Gift Card, contact 1-844-422-4399 immediately. Gift Cards will not be replaced if lost or stolen without proof of purchase. Only remaining balance on a lost or stolen Gift Card may be provided on a replacement Gift Card. All Gift Cards have cash value and should be safeguarded accordingly. Promotional Cards and Gift Cards not purchased or acquired at Chewy.com/ca will not be replaced under any circumstances.

6. Personal Information. Personal information that you provide to Chewy when purchasing or using a Gift Card is subject to Chewy’s Privacy Policy. By making an online purchase of a Gift Card, you represent and warrant to Chewy as follows:

  • for eGift Cards to be delivered to any person other than yourself, you have a personal or family relationship with the Gift Card recipient as described in Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (“CASL”), and you have the full and complete authority and consent of the Gift Card recipient to provide the recipient’s name and email address to Chewy or its third-party service providers for the purposes of fulfilling an eGift Card order;
  • you acknowledge that your name, email address and phone number may be shared with third-party service providers and/or the eGift Card recipient in order for Chewy or its third-party service providers to fulfill the eGift Card order and you give Chewy or its third-party service providers the authority and consent to do so; and
  • you are not breaching any contract, duty or law or infringing anyone’s intellectual property, privacy or other legal rights.

7. Risk of Loss. Ownership and risk of loss of (1) an eGift Card passes to the purchaser as soon as Chewy sends the Gift Card to the recipient email address designated by the purchaser or (2) upon the purchase or acquisition of a Gift Card from non-Chewy sources. Chewy is not responsible for lost, stolen, or misdirected Gift Cards (e.g., due to your failure to provide a correct and updated email address for the recipient of an eGift Card). It is the purchaser’s responsibility to provide a correct and updated email address for the recipient of an eGift Card.

8. Chewy Gift Card Customer Service. If you need assistance with any aspect of your purchase, ownership, or use of your Gift Card, please contact 1-844-422-4399 or email Chewy at service-ca@chewy.com. Please refer to your Chewy order number or be ready to supply your email address for eGift Cards, where you acquired or purchased your Gift Card from and your Gift Card account number for physical Gift Cards.

9. Delivery Information and Requirements for Gift Card Purchasers. If you have concerns about your order, delivery and/or purchase of a Gift Card, please contact 1-844-422-4399 or email Chewy at service-ca@chewy.com. Please refer to your Chewy order number or be ready to supply your email address, where you acquired or purchased your Gift Card from and the Gift Card account number for all other Gift Cards. Chewy is not responsible for eGift Cards that are undeliverable or not received due to your failure to enter an accurate email address for the recipient or for the sale, delivery or distribution of a Gift Card by a third party. Please check to make sure the email address of the recipient is correct and contact 1-844-422-4399 if you suspect the recipient did not receive their eGift Card.

10. Reasons for eGift Card Failed Delivery. eGift Cards are delivered via email. If you have confirmed the recipient’s email address but the eGift Card has not been viewed within a reasonable period after the requested delivery date, following is a list of the most common reasons why delivery may have failed:

  • Spam filter blocked email or routed it to a bulk/spam folder
  • Recipient’s firewall blocked the email
  • Email inbox is over size limit
  • Invalid email address

If a spam filter is blocking Chewy emails from getting to an inbox, the email options will need to be modified so that emails from service-ca@chewy.com are not considered spam. If you need further assistance, contact 1-844-422-4399. Please refer to your Chewy order number or be ready to supply your email address.

11. Limitation of Liability. CHEWY AND ITS AFFILIATES, INCLUDING CHEWY, INC., MAKE NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, WITH RESPECT TO GIFT CARDS, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. IF A GIFT CARD IS NON-FUNCTIONAL OR THERE ARE ANY OTHER ISSUES RELATING TO A GIFT CARD, YOUR SOLE REMEDY, AND OUR SOLE LIABILITY, SHALL BE THE REPLACEMENT OF SUCH GIFT CARD. CERTAIN PROVINCIAL LAWS DO NOT ALLOW LIMITATIONS ON IMPLIED WARRANTIES OR THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF CERTAIN DAMAGES. IF THESE LAWS APPLY TO YOU, SOME OR ALL OF THE ABOVE DISCLAIMERS, EXCLUSIONS, OR LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU, AND YOU MIGHT HAVE ADDITIONAL RIGHTS.

12. Violation of These Gift Card Terms. You agree to not use Chewy Gift Cards in any manner that is misleading, deceptive, unfair, or otherwise harmful to Chewy, its affiliates including Chewy, Inc., their reputation, goodwill, or their customers. We reserve the right, without notice to you, to void Gift Cards (including a portion or all of your Gift Card balance or particular Gift Card purchase) without a refund, suspend or terminate customer accounts, suspend or terminate the ability to use our services, cancel or limit orders, and bill alternative forms of payment if a Gift Card is purchased, obtained, used, or applied to a Chewy Account fraudulently, unlawfully, or otherwise in violation of these Gift Card Terms or we suspect that a Gift Card is purchased, obtained, used, or applied to a Chewy Account fraudulently, unlawfully, or otherwise in violation of these Gift Card Terms.

13. Governing Law and Disputes. You hereby agree that, to the extent permitted by applicable law, any dispute relating in any way to a Gift Card shall be resolved under the arbitration agreement in the Chewy Terms of Use. However, subject to the Chewy Terms of Use for Canada you agree that these Gift Card Terms and the rights and obligations of Chewy will be governed under the laws of the Province of Ontario, without regard to the principles of conflict of law.
