Returns
If you and your pet aren’t 100% satisfied, no worries. Return items within 365 days of purchase with free return shipping. In some cases, we may issue a refund without asking for the item to be sent back.
Here’s how to start a return.
- Opened items like pet food and litter
- Damaged or expired items
- Personalized items
Chewy gift cards aren’t eligible for return once activated.
Chewy doesn’t take ownership of refunded items or returned items until the item arrives back to us. If your item gets lost on its way back, chat live or call us at 1-800-672-4399 and we’ll be happy to help.
You may choose to receive your refund to your original payment method or as credit on your Chewy account balance. If we can’t use your original payment method (for example, due to an expired card), we will apply the refund to your Chewy account balance.

If you return your entire order for a refund, any shipping fees you paid will also be refunded. If only some items from your order are returned, shipping charges will not be refunded.
Returning items purchased with a Chewy gift card without a Chewy account
If you do not have an account with Chewy and you make a purchase with a Chewy gift card through guest checkout or otherwise, you won’t be eligible for a refund. See full gift card terms and conditions for more information.
