Where do you source your ingredients? Who manufactures this, i. e. does AvoDerm have its own manufacturing/processing/packaging plant?
Answer by ChewyMay 03, 2021
All of AvoDerm's main ingredients are purchased from North American suppliers with the exception of duck from France, tapioca powder from Thailand, lamb from New Zealand and quinoa from Peru. They purchase all of their vitamin mix from reputable domestic suppliers who source vitamins globally and then test them domestically before selling them.

What does the food look like? Are they small round pellets or another form?

Good food for my dogs

I'm very happy with the Avoderm Original Chicken Meal & Brown Rice food I've been feeding, but tried the Large Breed on a whim. It seems equally well received by my dogs, but why *I* like this better is that is seems less "greasy" to touch than the Original. Also, the 26 pound bag is perfect for my storage container. I plan to buy both varieties as needed, because both of these foods within the AvoDerm brand have worked well for everyone here.

Absolutely loves her food!

My Pyrenees just loves the large breed AvoDerm dog food. She has had no problems at all with this food! This is her first bag. So, far so good!

My pups did not like

I wish I could know if this food would have helped my babies with their skin issues but they did not like it. Even my dog who eats almost everything initially turned up her nose. After mixing it she ate some but left a lot behind which is not like her at all.

One dog loves it, other dog got very sick

Not sure what the problematic ingredient is, but one of my dogs (4 year old shephard) got very sick after transitioning to this food and he has never had a reaction to changes in food before. My other dog (4 year old shephard) handles it fine and is eager to eat it.

Good choice!

We have been using this food for a few weeks now, have had 1 of our dogs on allergy meds because he had rash on his belly. Started using this food and I decided to try no meds and his rash has completely disappeared in fact has never been better. He also always finishes his food, which he never did before. Would give it a try if you have a dog that has allergies or doesn't seem to like food. This has been a big help to his health.

AvoDerm Chicken Meal & Brown Rice

Anything by AvoDerm is great in my experience. I’ve been buying AvoDerm foods for about three years. My dog likes it, it’s never given him any digestive issues, and he’s always been very healthy.

Dogs love it

I switched to this formula after my dog wasn’t having a good reaction to another food. We put our older dog on it too. The dogs absolutely love it! It also seems to have been good for their GI system. Really happy with the product.

Dog doesn't want to eat it

My dog avoids eating this dog food, and both of my parents dogs avoid it when I bring his food over to their house. I gave it a solid try, since it has good reviews, but he just doesn't like it, and he's started getting sick so I'm worried he's actually allergic to it or something. With all the good reviews I think it would probably be good for most dogs, but definitely keep an eye on your dog and how they're reacting to it.

AvoDerm Chicken Meal & Brown Rice Large Breed Formula Dry Food

My 10 month old pup has had digestive issues with loose stool and diarrhea since adoption at 13 weeks of age. After being on metro, probiotics, Tylan Powder and prescription food over a 90 day period it was time to transition him onto normal dog food. The first brand tried, while good, still created some soft serve stool and although he eats most anything he didn’t care for that particular brand. Then I found AvoDerm for large breeds when researching dry dog food for sensitive stomach. He is half way thru transitioning over to the AvoDerm and his stool is FINALLY normal! It’s solid, much less of it and he LOVES the taste to boot. Thrilled with the special pricing right now so I’m stocking up. So thankful AvoDerm is working for him and I can stop buying the very expensive prescription food. Bonus, AvoDerm is also good for my young senior girl as well.

Excellent Food

We were recommended this food for our Bullmastiff who has had skin issues in the past. He seems to be enjoying it a lot and I see an improvement in his skin and coat.
