Does this plug in or run on battery?

This system includes batteries and a power cord. You can use whichever is most convenient to power your monitor.

Since this also takes frequency into account, how would this work in a multi-cat home with more than one litter box, if the cats don't go in the same box each time?

It is recommended to purchase one smart monitor for each litter box in your household for the most comprehensive and accurate insights. These monitors are specially calibrated and sensitive enough to measure even very small changes in weight and behavior. The system’s artificial intelligence can use behavioral data to analyze each cat’s signature habits and assign them to a profile. The initial learning period begins as soon as you set up your monitor for the first time. The Petivity system will ask you to confirm which cat was using the litter box. If your cats are distinctly different weights, it will be simple to recognize which litter box event belongs to which cat and to label them accordingly. If your cats are roughly the same weight, it can be helpful to temporarily place each cat in a separate room with their own monitor and litter box to ensure correct labeling.

Does this fit in all sizes of litter box?

The Petivity Smart Litter Box Monitor is approximately 19 inches long x 14 inches wide x 2 inches high. We recommend litter trays and boxes be no larger than 21 inches long x 16 inches wide to avoid tipping and ensure accurate weight readings. Avoid using with self-cleaning boxes.

Can it be used on carpet?

The monitor is designed to function best on a smooth, level, hard surface. If using a mat or placing the monitor on carpeting, extend the adjustable feet to ensure the monitor is not touching the carpet, mat, or other flooring surface. Uneven monitors may cause a disruption in data.

This has been an amazing addition to monitoring output for my eldest with FIC and monitoring bathroom habits and weight for all SIX! Yes, SIX! It states it can track up to five, but it has been successfully monitoring all six of mine. I have received alerts to let me know if someone hasn’t use the litter box, and when our fourth rescue unintentionally lost almost a pound while under the care of a pet sitter.

Works great, so helpful!

I have two older cats, both 13 years old, and they both have had kidney and urinary tract issues over the years, with both on kidney prescription food now. I wish I had bought this litterbox monitor ages ago! There have been times when I've had to keep the cats separated to monitor their litterbox use, which was difficult for me and sad for them. With this monitor, I can see who is using the litterbox, when, and how often. This would have saved so many headaches in the past! And now, I'll be able to tell right away if one of them starts having an issue - a big anxiety relief! It took a very short time to set up and it works well on its own now. :)

Petivity is scamming people

When you connect the device to the app it yields a 1041 error code. When reaching out to petivity support they claim they ARE AWARE of the issue but that they don’t

My vet recommended this after my cat had several consecutive urinary issues that caused us to track his habits very closely. It was a huge help in keeping track of him. We recently added another cat and another monitor, and while the system can tell the difference between the cats, it has lost accuracy in reporting what they’ve done. I’m hoping that a little bit more training of the system will solve this though.

Great way to monitor for issue

We got this because one of our cats had a severe UTI and we never noticed. Now we have a way to monitor and get flagged if there is abnormal use of the litter box

We got this because one of our cats had a severe UTI and we never noticed. Now we have a way to monitor and get flagged if there is abnormal use of the litter box. It was easy to setup and add our 3 cats. The first week I had to select which cat it was to help the Ai learn. This was easy for us because each cat has a distinctly different weight. The only drawback is you can only have this linked to one device and we both travel a fair amount.

Customer service was so helpful when I confused myself setting it up (set up is easy when you actually follow the instructions!). As an anxious, over protective cat parent this has been so helpful!
