The spacing between the bars is about ¾ of an inch. This gate is recommended to be used with cats of any size and life stage.

Easy and secure

I have one cat who fights with my other 2 so he has to be confined to his own room. I hated keeping the door closed and stacked baby gates worked but were a pain

I have one cat who fights with my other 2 so he has to be confined to his own room. I hated keeping the door closed and stacked baby gates worked but were a pain. When I moved to a new home I ordered this door and love how easy it is to go in and out of his room. It was easy for 2 people to install but would be a challenge for just 1 person to hold it in place while securing it. It works great for all of us. It is easy for me to go in and out and the confined cat can see the others without being able to fight. I feel better knowing he is not isolated behind a closed door. He hangs out in his favorite sleeping places most of the time but comes to greet me at the door at meal times. Also, the cats can stalk each other if they wish without resulting vet bills. I was able to install it on the outer part of the doorframe so I can still close the regular door if I need to. I wish I had gotten this a year ago when I was climbing over baby gates or crawling under them.

This looked really nice after installing on a 36" wide door, since it is glossy white and we have glossy white door frames. Easy to install, adjust and fit, even in our 1940, slightly out-of-square home. Great quality. Kitties are perfectly barred from 1/2 of the house when we are cooking and entertaining and we don't have to worry about them being accidently let out of the house. Plus they can see us and seem content.

Unsafe! Extensions pull to the side

I wanted this gate to work so bad. But when you add on the extensions to either side, the bars that connect them vertically almost seem like they’re made out of

I wanted this gate to work so bad. But when you add on the extensions to either side, the bars that connect them vertically almost seem like they’re made out of rubber. You can literally pull them out of the way and a dog or a cat could walk through it or worse, get their head stuck in it. It’s extremely dangerous and this point has not been pointed out on any of the reviews I’ve seen but I’ve seen several other things that it is dangerous in different ways. I filed a return. I feel this is a very unsafe gate. At this price point, metal bars could have at least been used.

Kept 5 cats safe during construction

Had workers coming in and out of my house, leaving doors open, etc. This gate made it stress-free to keep them safe amd secure on one side of the house. They hated

Had workers coming in and out of my house, leaving doors open, etc. This gate made it stress-free to keep them safe amd secure on one side of the house. They hated being locked in rooms and would cry for hours to get out. With the gate they sleep the day away and don't even realize they are shut in. The gate itself is sturdy and I have moved it to different areas without issue. Worth every penny I spent!!!

Life safer gate

My cat Boynton is the newest rescue from Boynton Beach Florida. I traveled from Ohio to get him . He is a lot bigger than my other two rescued cats. My bobtail maincoon Bobbi and Boynton do not get along at all . Bobbi hissed at Boynton and the fighting was on. Now Boynton is very aggressive toward her now. So we have to keep them apart , by keep Bobbi in the bedroom . I hated this and thought this would work out better for all . So far it has relieve the pressure and from me. I hate keeping any cat up separated for periods of time. Now she feels more freedom downstairs in the family room getting more attention. I will get another one for the upstairs so I can let Bobbi run free in the upper part of the house.

DO NOT BUY

If you have a cat that acts like a cat, then DO NOT BUY THIS GATE! My cat learned how to pull open the bottom. When I tied it off so he couldn't, he figured out

If you have a cat that acts like a cat, then DO NOT BUY THIS GATE! My cat learned how to pull open the bottom. When I tied it off so he couldn't, he figured out how to squeeze through the bars. Not only does this gate cost way too much to be so ineffective it is a safety hazard. Shame on Chewy for even selling this!

Design flaw

Like others here, the stew at the top has come loose. It’s a very dangerous design flaw. It came slamming down and I’m not sure it’s repairable. Very disappoint

Finally a tall gate that fills the entire doorway

It was so easy to assemble and insert in my doorway. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks and it’s very sturdy and looks good and kitty can’t get her head thru

It was so easy to assemble and insert in my doorway. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks and it’s very sturdy and looks good and kitty can’t get her head thru. I can even close the original door with the gate closed if needed. I have a new kitty that scares my other two for now, so they split time and I can keep new kitty happy and the others safe.
