I purchased this backpack because my cat (11 lb) loves to go on shaded hikes with me. Normally I pick him up when he needs a break, which is more frequently in the summer, but I can tell it's not the most comfortable for him in my arms or on 1 of my shoulders. It's such a shame this backpack didn't work out for us because the material does feel like great quality & a solid construction, & I just love the green color it comes in. Although I do think my cat enjoyed resting in it himself while we continued on our hike, the backpack itself hurt my lower hips so bad that I had to end up cutting our hike short only after about 1.5 miles. I adjusted it up & down my back at different intervals several times for some relief, thinking I might just be wearing it incorrectly, but this did not seem to be the case after trial & error. The bottom platform that my cat was resting on was digging painfully into my back. I think a chest strap would be a good addition to this backpack to offset the weight. I'm happy it's worked for others though. Chewy has the greatest customer service, by the way!

The perfect bag for Ozzie

We ordered 5 backpacks for our morkies, Ozzie & Rico, to see which one would work best for each of them & also be comfortable for us. Ozzie is very chill and go with the flow. He likes to walk & hike, but he gets hot & tired pretty quickly. I knew we needed a backpack that allowed him to stand up so he could look out, lay down to rest or sit and look out the mesh windows. For reference, he's 9lbs and this allows him to do all of those things. PROS: It's not too heavy and I was able to hike at 9,000 elevation, for 4 miles, with no problem. The other backpacks similar to this were not comfortable at all. This one is comfortable, sturdy and well made. It looks nice and not cheap like some of the other bags we tried. There is a little more room for storage than the K9 sport sack we got for Rico. I can fit my phone, snacks and a water bottle without blocking his airflow. I also hang his water bottle & poop bags off the side of the bag. The other nice thing is you can take it off and lay it on the ground and it serves as a little carrier. Ozzie loves to be inside of bags, so it works great for him. When we stop at a restaurant or coffee shop with outdoor seating, he can chill in the bag. I can also put my other morkie in with him while we eat, it's small but they lay on each other all the time, so they love it. CONS: The downside, it looks like a suitcase on my back because it's so big! It took me a long time to find the backpack I wanted. I read hundreds of reviews and tried out a lot of different brands. I'm glad I found this one. There's really no way to get around the large size if you want your dog to be able to lay down and move around.

This backpack is perfect for our 18lb cat. It's holds up under the weight (doesn't sag or collapse in on itself). She's about 20" long from nose to hind legs, and I was looking for a bag that would allow her to sit comfortably--the 14.5" bag width works great. The bag doesn't dig into my back, but I'm 5'2", and I wear the bag high on my back, so something to take into consideration: it could fit differently depending on your body type. Would definitely recommend this bag based on the quality. One negative thing to note: I wish it had a chest strap.

This is a well built and sturdy backpack. Our kitten is 11 lb and fits comfortably in it. Only a couple of flaws - lack of a chest strap, and the internal hook strap

This is a well built and sturdy backpack. Our kitten is 11 lb and fits comfortably in it. Only a couple of flaws - lack of a chest strap, and the internal hook strap location. The strap is sewn into the bottom right which causes it to entangle our kitten as he turns around. A better location for it would have been in the middle top or middle bottom.

Great product

We bought two of these for our trip to Oregon when we would go on hikes and our 16 yr Miniature Poodle and 12 yr old Shitzu could not walk very long, he did great

We bought two of these for our trip to Oregon when we would go on hikes and our 16 yr Miniature Poodle and 12 yr old Shitzu could not walk very long, he did great and this was easy on our backs, very comfortable to wear. Great product.
