Flimsy gate with extension. Poor quality latch
I would not trust this gate at the top of stairs (where we purchased it for) if a toddler or dog started pushing against it, it could easily collapse. This gate
I would not trust this gate at the top of stairs (where we purchased it for) if a toddler or dog started pushing against it, it could easily collapse. This gate with the extension panel attached is extremely flimsy. Even when tightly mounted in the doorway, there is a lot of play back and forth between the gate and the extension panel. The extension panel is only held in place by two metal pins that are a little over two inches long. One side is 1 1/2" long, the other a little over 1/2" is all that holds that panel in place. The gate itself is mounted with bolts that sit loosely in the gate. There is nothing that holds them in the metal frame of the gate. Pressure from the mounting screw and washer and wall hold them in place once the gate is installed. The latch on the gate is difficult to open and didn't fully engage to allow the gate to open. The gate closed with a tiny nib of plastic. We have purchased other extension gates thru Chewy that have been extremely sturdy. This one is not.
