We recommend that you keep your dog in ideal body condition and not allow your dog to become overweight. The exact amount of food your dog require will need to be adjusted according to age, activity, and environment, but a good place to start is with these guidelines for an average active, adult dog fed once daily. Provide adequate fresh water in a clean container daily. For your pets health, see your veterinarian regularly.
Making the Switch to Pro Plan: Although you'll be anxious to see the difference Pro Plan can make in your dog, please allow 7 - 10 days to ease the transition from your dog's current food. Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Pro Plan until you're feeding Pro Plan exclusively. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets.

The Journey to Purina Pro Plan Bright Mind Adult 7+
From less interaction with you to lower engagement in daily activities, there are many signs your dog may be aging. Purina Pro Plan Bright Mind Adult 7+ was created out of proprietary research that shows enhanced botanical oils provide an efficient fuel source for the brain in dogs that are 7 and older. This helps to naturally nourish their minds to help them think more like they did when they were younger.

The Insight
Around age 7, a dog's glucose metabolism in the brain begins to change, which can affect memory, learning, awareness and decision-making. This is why Purina Pro Plan considers dogs age 7 and older to be senior dogs.
The Discovery
After years of research, Purina experts discovered fatty acids derived from botanical oils, called Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCTs), can be used, in addition to glucose, as an energy source for the brain. As a part of an older dog's total nutrition, these MCTs have been shown to promote alertness and mental sharpness in dogs age 7+.

The Results
When added to the daily diet of dogs 7 and older, the enhanced botanical oils promoted memory, attention and trainability. What does this mean for your dog? You may notice a difference in your dog's behavior, including interaction with you, interest in playing, and the ability to adapt and cope with change.

Amazing Results
By DAO53 on Jan 11, 2021
I’d seen the ads for this Purina food, but never considered feeding it to my dogs until I adopted a 7-year-old mini-Schnauzer in late December. My vet suggested I use it. Besides giving it to Heidi, I’ve gradually shifted my 10-year-old Maltipoo to it as well. Within the first week, Joe became more alert. He began interacting with me asking for extra pets and attention. Then last week, he started doing zoomies again morning and night—something I hadn’t seen him do in a couple of years. The change in him is not subtle. I have always trusted Purina products. This reinforces that trust.

Bag of dog food was sliced open.
By VetTech1 on Jan 5, 2021
I received my order today and the bag of dog food was cut and it opened the bag a little. I did not use anything sharp to open the box. I pulled the tape off and the bag was under packing material. I'm concerned with how long the bag has been open and not comfortable feeding this to my dog.

Actually Saw Improvement!
By GeorgiaJanie on Jan 21, 2021
My dogs eating this are 8. 11 and 15 1/2. They love this food. I've always fed Purina and when this came out I tried it and actually saw more activity = at least to the kitchen at dinner time! They play more with each other and are more alert.

Just changed my 11 year old Mini Schnauzer to this after his veterinarian recommended it. He has been on a much more expensive food his entire life. He LOVES this and is SO excited for feeding time.

Helped My Dog Tremendously
By Shadow on Oct 25, 2020
After realizing I haven’t been feeding my dog a complete balanced meal with boutique food brands and seeing him experience problems (weak stool, frequent stomach problems, joint pain, etc...), I decided to go with a brand that followed the WSAVA guidelines. My dog isn’t a picky eater, so I was not surprised to find him always eating and finishing his meal, but I was surprised to see actual benefits when it came to his health. His stool was much healthier, no more upset stomach, and have yet to see any joint pain from him ever since. I also feel like he’s become way more mentally aware as he listens to commands much better now, and the glucosamine in the food certainly helped with his joints After realizing I haven’t been feeding my dog a complete balanced meal with boutique food brands and seeing him experience problems (weak stool, frequent stomach problems, joint pain, etc...), I decided to go with a brand that followed the WSAVA guidelines. Picky eater approved
By Megan on Dec 13, 2020
Wow! Our vet recommended we switch to this food (she added it’s what she feeds her dogs), and my dog is a super picky eater so I was expecting her to eat it reject a new food on the first try. Instead she wolfed down the entire bowl in minutes!! Very impressed.

Mini Schnauzer loves it
By Jill on Sep 28, 2020
Our 8 year old mini schnauzer had been eating Acana his whole life, but had stopped being interested in his food at breakfast time. In his most recent vet visit, they recommended switching to a different food given recent health concerns with grain-free kibble. We switched to Royal Canin Mini Schanuzer for a few months, but he stopped being interested in that too. We are now on our 4th bag of this food and our now "senior dog" loves it! I was worried that with the size of the kibble relative to his previous food, that he might avoid fully chewing and crunching each kibble, but there was no issue at all. Good Kibble
By OldDogs on Nov 2, 2020
Changed over to Bright Mind Adult 7+ Small Breed Dry Food because our 14 year old Shih-tzu is having trouble choking on the larger kibble. She seems to like it pretty well, as does our mature rescue, lab/border collie/greyhound mix. We will be switching them both to this once we run out of our rescues food also.

Good for picky old dudes
By Erin on Nov 24, 2020
My oldest dog is very picky and in the beginning of dementia. His vet recommended this so I ordered him a bag. He loves it. I also started our 7 year old dog on it and she loves it too. The kibbles are a good size for little dogs.
