Barley (straw) receives one application of 2,4D herbicide. In some cases, Standlee also utilizes growth regulators such as Cerone (Ethephon) or Palisade (Trinexapac-ethyl) to prevent the barley from growing too tall and falling over prior to grain harvest.

This chopped straw is made by chopping wheat or barley straw into approximately 4’ pieces.
