My cat picked apart a dried minnow about and inch long to avoid eating it
By Punkdebutant on Jan 31, 2021
My cat is a garbage cat and will eat anything, but he's getting old and thinning out. He won't touch this even if I spread it on dried minnows. Dried fish. I can't believe it. He'll take my finger off in the process of consuming a dried fish. I couldn't even hide it in his cat food. He's starving himself at this very moment to avoid eating this goo. I resorted to wiping it on his paws and hoping he will lick it off which backfired because he's wiping his paws on my pillow. Why don't they make it some horrible stinky fish flavor? I'm sure it works great if you can actually give it to your cat. If you have a picky eater maybe look into another brand. It's working!
By RDinPA on Feb 23, 2021
I have a 15 yr old cat. She started losing weight about a year ago. Lately tho she seems to be skin and bones. I started her on this 10 days ago. She absolutely loves it which is great. She's starting to gain some weight back. I can feel her getting heavier in her belly and on her ribcage. I am ordering this a 2d time. I'm wanting her to gain a little more weight on her spine/back and hips. I would definitely recommend this!

My elderly, severely underweight cat LOVES this!
By catanddogmomma on Jan 13, 2021
I have a 16-year old cat who can't keep weight on. She also has chronic kidney failure. When I grab the tube of this hi-cal paste, she reaches up for it, rushing me to get the cap off. She laps it up straight from the tube until she's full. It has helped us bond even more in her late adult stage and I feel good knowing she's getting additional calories (i.e. energy). I bought a tube for my mom's elderly cat too. She puts a dollop on his food each night and he laps it right up.

Buy to increase calories for your skinny kitty
By Beth on Feb 21, 2021
I have a hyperthyroid kitty who had lost lots of weight. I am using this in combination with medication. She likes it, has regained some weight, and it also reduces hairballs, a great bonus. She is a picky eater, but has no trouble eating this.

Simon said YUCK!
By Gross on Dec 19, 2020
I got this to get some weight on my Sweet Simon. He is my fragile kitty, having had double FHO surgery and apparent other health issues. I tried a couple different times to get him to eat this and he promptly put his nose up in the air and split from the area. It is a bit oily and doesn't have a great smell. Even putting it on his paw for him to lick off did not work. He ran off to the bedroom stopping to shake his paw every couple seconds! He truly HATES this stuff. A waste money. He ended up burning more calories than he consumed by doing everything he could to run off and hide while shaking his foot to get the slimy stuff off. Maybe a help, maybe not
By MissRobin on Dec 6, 2020
I bought this to help my 15-year-old cat supplement his nutrition. Because of inherited condition, he has no teeth left, and since chewing is tough for him, he’s losing weight. Upon opening the tube, I realized this was going to be a struggle. Now, the tube says malt flavor, but it smells very strongly of cod liver oil. And apparently, my cat does not like cod or liver or oil, because when I put it next to his nose, he winced. And ran. Caught the cat. Then I tried to put some on his paw. Unlike the description of it as a paste, it’s more like hair gel. And that’s exactly what it turned into, because when I put it on his paw, kitty flicked it right back at me. Next, tried to put some on his gums. Found out that for a 15-year old malnourished cat, he is amazingly strong... and his claws are amazingly sharp! But after all that, he did get some nourishment and it did help his appetite. And 6 hours later, when he wasn’t mad at me anymore, he came and cuddled up. My conclusion - if they had this in any other flavor, it would be great. Otherwise, prepare for a struggle. … more

By dessert on Jan 15, 2021
My soon to be 17 yr old cat was starting to lose weight (no health issues). starting using the Tomlyn Nutri-Cal actually is working. Cali has started to put on weight and has more of an appetite. I give it to her through a syringe. she would not eat it mixed in her food I ordered more and will continue to use it.

My older cat loves this stuff
By DDCat on Jan 9, 2021
My very old cat loves this stuff and I have to be careful because sometimes if he eats it then he won’t eat the rest of his food. He will just meow for more of this. My two younger cats won’t touch it so it works out great, I don’t have to worry about them stealing it. It really helps my older cat keep his weight on, so I add it to his food.

If your cat is needing nutritional support this can be a good way of delivering it. Illness or injury or whatever may result in not getting enough food this is a good supplement

Great item
By Shaz on Feb 16, 2021 Top 1000 Contributor
If your cat will eat it. Some don't like it. Thankfully my elders that need extra calories LOVE it.. In addition, I've been able to squirt medication right into it. That's a blessing.
