Questions & Answers

How many GPH does this filter do?
Answer by Chewy • Oct 14, 2022
This canister filters 80 Gallons Per Hour (GPH).

How often does the filter media need to be replaced? Where can I get the replacement filters?
Answer by Chewy • Jun 23, 2023
This three-stage external aquarium filter uses mechanical, biological, and chemical filtration. The carbon should be replaced once a month, the ceramic media should only be changed if it is restricting water flow (it can be rinsed each month), and the sponges can be rinsed monthly but only need to be changed if they cannot be cleaned or if they start to break down. Replacement parts are available through the manufacturer's website.

Can you use this for a turtle tank??
Answer by Chewy • Jun 07, 2022
You can use the External Nano filter for a turtle tank, just keep in mind the amount of water you are using with your turtle and choose the filter accordingly.

Good Little Filter

Purchased for a rimless 10 gallon aquarium but couldn't use it so I placed it in a 20 gallon porch "pond" as a secondary filter. It's a little work horse that is able to hold a pack of my preferred media. I'm not using the carbon filter it came with. I like the vertical spray wand returning a gentle flow. Doesn't blow the minnows away with the current. Four stars because it's very, very difficult to open for maintenance.

Really Suprised

Bought this for my planted community 40 breeder. It had a really large sponge filter and small hob filter. Took off hob filter and set the zoo med canister 30 up. Wow the differance in water clarity. This is a great low cost canister filter
