I had never heard of this brand, so did a little investigating. It is canned by Simmons, the same company that produces some big name products, along with their own brands. Pros: Large size can is great for dogs who need exclusively canned food, large dogs, or multi-dog households. A standard pet food lid will fit to save the rest in the fridge for later. Pretty basic ingredient list on this formula -- no added vegetables, fruit, and only one grain (brewers rice). It is not a runny, liquidy mess. The consistency is the same whether just-opened or refrigerated. Affordable price. All 3 of my dogs liked this food. Cons: The can does not have a pop-top. You'll need a can opener for these big cans. Some of the ingredients are vague -- meat by products, animal liver -- not ideal if you need to avoid a particular ingredient. One of my dogs experienced slight digestion issues with this, even after only getting 2 or so tablespoons as a topper, so this is definitely not a good food for him. The smell of this food is gross, which is probably why my dogs were delighted with the flavor, but unfortunately a contributing factor as to why i would not be likely to buy this in the future.

These are large cans, 22 ounces. Most canned dog food is 15 ounces. I was concerned when “meat by products” was listed in the ingredients. I had no idea what the “meat’ source was, so I contacted the company. They responded within 24 hours and provided this response to my question, “These include a blend of pork or beef organ meats such as heart, kidney, liver, lung, and spleen. These organ meats are a natural part of a balanced diet for both dogs and cats, providing essential vitamins, minerals, and other important nutrients like amino acids. At Simmons Foods, Inc, we ensure that all our ingredients, including meat by-products, are of the highest quality. They are sourced from reputable suppliers and undergo rigorous quality control to ensure they are safe and nutritious for pets. Incorporating meat by-products in pet foods also allows us to utilize the whole animal, reducing waste and promoting environmental sustainability. We believe this is a responsible choice that benefits both pets and the planet.” This satisfied my concerns. My only real complaint was that I had to find a can opener to open these cans. A no pull top would be a nice improvement.

Strong Heart’s Chopped Dinner with Beef is a solid, reliable option for multi‑dog households. The large 22‑oz can size is a big plus—it stretches further, helps reduce waste, and makes mealtime easier when feeding multiple pups. The texture is ground which my dogs prefer, and they seem to enjoy the flavor, eating it without hesitation. One area for improvement would be the packaging. Adding a pull‑top lid would make the cans much easier to open, especially for busy pet owners. Overall, it’s a solid dog food with hearty portions and a taste dogs love, with just one small packaging upgrade that could make it even better.

I am VERY impressed with this canned food! I have 2 picky eaters, with 2 different eating styles - a Welsh Pembroke Corgi and an American Bully. They are fed their same kibble daily with different toppers for variety. I buy a selection of different canned foods for this purpose. They BOTH loved this chopped beef pate IMMEDIATELY! It also smelled very good to me as well. The pricing on this is much more reasonable than other premium canned food. So my highest ratings for appeal, smell, ingredients, and cost! 5 stars all around!

I selected this food because I didn’t want any vegetables in it to avoid bloat and gas. It also has added vitamins and minerals. The transition was easy, and they did not get stomach upset or diarrhea. One of my dogs is very picky, so I was glad when she ate everything and is excited when I am getting their meals ready.

This food says “with beef” and it has beef in it, but the main ingredient is chicken, so if your dog has a chicken allergy, don’t get this particular flavor. My dogs have been eating this food mixed with their kibble for several days now and they are very happy and have had no digestive issues.

That was the only change in his diet so I was afraid to give him any more cause he was almost 15 years old . He liked it, but I wouldn’t be able to give him anymore. The Dog family I gave it to. You said it was just fine for their dog.

I like this brand because I feel that my pup is getting additional healthy supplements that will prolong his life.
