Answer by ChewyFeb 02, 2023
These are not mealworm beetles. They do produce lesser worms which can be used to feed to smaller reptiles.

They take over your tank easily

I was drowning in tiny lesser mealworms and couldn’t keep up with how often they needed to be culled. I have a decent size dubia roach colony and multiple 15-20

I was drowning in tiny lesser mealworms and couldn’t keep up with how often they needed to be culled. I have a decent size dubia roach colony and multiple 15-20 gallon tanks to shuffle things around. I wasn’t expecting these to be quite as prolific as they were. These beetles are voracious enough to clean whole mouse carcasses and will easily outcompete the roaches. Eventually I had to take a chance and just dry out the tank, they are a lot less resilient than the Dubia roaches so my colony did recover. I wouldn’t recommend unless you have a very very very large colony in an enclosure bigger than 120 gallons.

Large amount arived dead

These beetles are great when they are alive but so many arrive dead that ordering 1000 is like ordering 500.

It would have helped if it was more clear, that these are extra tiny, climbing-type critters. Not the best for the standard pet supply store cage in an apartment; concerned that beetles will escape. No time to call customer service for refund/ credit. Discarded.
