How long does it last? Is it waterproof?

Each four-pound tub contains enough hoof packing for about 20 applications. This product is not waterproof and barefoot horses will need their hooves wrapped after application for best results.

Does this product have a shelf life? If so, how long?

It expires 5 years from the date it was manufactured. The expiration date is stamped on the container.

This hoof packing really does help relieve soreness from hooves. Just remember do not use any absorbent padding such as cotton or diapers, with this packing as it will leach the ingredients into the padding & not the hoof. Easy to use with shod horses, just place in hoof & press shavings into it.

Great but pricey

I would give this 4.5 out of 5. I packed this in my mares hoofs, and wrapped it with vet wrap. It was easy to apply, and stayed good until the next day where I repeated

Magic Cushion works very well albeit messy. It is also a bit pricey, but pricing at Chewy is competitive.

I have used the original Magic Cushion with good results and so thought that I would try the "extreme" strength knowing it has more of the ingredients that I am

I have used the original Magic Cushion with good results and so thought that I would try the "extreme" strength knowing it has more of the ingredients that I am looking for, but .... this packing is wetter and even messier than the original and so makes applying to the hoof even more challenging. Can't say I noticed different/better results either so will "stick" with the normal Magic Cushion.
