Very high quality but 6 cats won't eat it

    By on

I gave 3 stars because the food looks to be very high quality with actual chunks of fish. However, I can't recommend it because sadly my 6 cats (including a former stray who will eat anything) will only eat the jell in the can. I tried mixing the jell into the fish but the "mushing" caused them to completely reject it. How any cat could reject a sardine and mackerel repast with nice chunks of fish beats me. Thanks

    Weird consistency

This food is semi-hard, kind of dry and gelled. I have to spend time trying to smash it into pieces so the cat will eat it. She likes the other Against the Grain canned food, but not this one. If it was moister, not gelled and in smaller bites, she might like it.

    Not for my cats!

    By on

As Iams discontinued their sardine and mackerel, which my cats adored, i decided to try this one for my cats. Eek! Not a thing like Iams, this one is just a "glop" coming out of the can. Did not look appealing, but i thought i would give to my cats to try - NO DEAL, they said! Also tried heating it a bit, and chopping it, as it looks like congealed fat with chunks. Other cats may like this catfood, but mine did not go for it at all! Considering the cost, I was disappointed in this product.

    it's a fail

I have four indoor cats and a small colony of ferrals outside. The indoor cats are interested, but they won't eat it. I've tried slowly integrating it into their diet, but it's a no-go. The outdoor cats will eat whatever I give them, but this is too expensive to give to the outdoor cats

My cats did not like this food.

I usually buy against the grain tuna with aubergine and sea bass which my kitties love but chewy is apparently out for a long time, so I ordered this one. My cats won’t touch it. Guess they don’t care for the jelly substance on and around the food. Not sure, maybe they’re just too finicky

    We weren't fans

    By on

I was shocked by how it looked when I opened it - a lot of gel. One of my cats ate it, but she eats anything. The other ate part of it, then left the rest and wouldn't eat it later. Not sure if it's the flavor, the gel, or something else.

    OK but too much gel

    By on

I was impressed with the Against the Grain products that come in a plastic cup and have funky names like Tuna Mango Tango with Duck; most importantly, my cats loved them. Thought I'd try something different in the can. This one had way too much gel in it, presumably from the actual seafood product. I had to mash all of the food up with a fork to mix it up and even then my cats wouldn't eat the gel if the particle was too large. I even tried melting the gel in the microwave. I'm glad I only bought a case of 24.
