An average cat weighing 9 lbs will consume 3 cans daily. Adjust as needed for your cat's age & activity. Refrigerate unused portion up to 36 hours. Provide plenty of fresh water.
Gradually transition your pet to any new food over the course of 7-14 days to help avoid the digestive upset that abrupt changes in diet can cause. If your pet tends to be on the sensitive side, it may be best to take a little extra time. 1. Start by feeding your pet a mix of 25% new food and 75% old food for the first few days. 2. Then, increase the amount of new food to about 50% and feed that half-and-half mix for a few days. 3. Proceed to feeding 75% new food/25% old food for the next few days. 4. Complete the transition by feeding just the new food on its own.
The food itself seems nice but my cat wouldn't even touch it. He loves Mango Tango though :)
My cats (and I) were c.r.a.z.y. for the discontinued Against the Grain flavors: Shrimp Daddy and something with tuna. All the new formulations-- and we have now tried 4 of them-- are much more 'soupy'. It's almost as if they have decided to add a bit of water to make up the weight. Of the new formulations, they like this one the best, however. The chicken ones are a tough sell....
My cats would not touch it. Smelled it, walked away. Garbage can next morning
Surprisingly my cats really liked this cat food. It was on sale and I would definitely buy it again.
Against the Grain recently stopped producing the chicken club canned food and we needed to make a quick change for our cat. He had no issues and loved the flavor of this one as well.
This stuff has contents all over the map. One has tuna only. Another has what look likes the tomato recipe in the Tuna Toscano and Salmon Dinner. Another has eggplant mixed with gravy and who knows what. Each can looks like it came from a different vat. None have the least thing in common.
Recently bought this to test out this brand but she wouldn't even touch this flavor. I still recommend it since this brand seems top notch with quality ingredients, but it's just not what my picky Nala likes, I guess. But this has plenty of gravy and might work for others
Who knew, because they usually are not crazy about vegetables but they gobble this up. Only thing is I've noticed loose stools after they eat it. Not completely sure it's this food but keeping it to a minimum just in case.
This is the only Against the Gain canned cat food my cats love. The rest is the stripped cut which the cats think don't know how to eat this so they want eat? Got some very loved, finicky grown cats that think they are human but are my babies. Thanks
We have 21 cats (sanctuary). This is the only food I've ever put down and had every one clean their bowls. Even the cats that won't normally touch a tuna food inhale this. For us, that is exceptionally rare. Typically I avoid tuna, for obvious reasons, but sometimes we need an especially appealing food to hide medications in. This does the trick. I'm grateful that it's sustainably sourced. My only wish would be that it came in larger cans. I've requested this from the company (Against the Grain) but they don't reply. 21 cats approve!
