This automatic door was a godsend. It was easy to install. The solar panel worked great, as did regular power. It was easy to program. I could clean the groove for the door periodically with an old toothbrush. I liked that you could close the door if needed during inclement weather. One evening, after almost 7 months of working perfectly, I noticed that the door had not closed. I went to close it and it moved with slow jerks and stops. I tried to open it, but it would not open. That was the last time it worked.

Gave it a chance and my birds have been locked out multiple nights and mornings. Chicago thankfully hasn’t been that cold and we have been fortunate with them being outside for extended lengths of time. I have set it to 5am open, which they never come out before 6am. Multiple times I have to let them out manually. The 9pm close is hours past their normal bed time at 7pm. I have found them out in the cold multiple nights. The panel has gone out and the screen is unreadable to see the settings. Thought this would be a good help in winter but I still have to check everyday.

Worked great until solar panel died

This worked great for me for about a year until the solar panel died and I cannot find any pictures info on how to order a replacement. My chickens get locked out/

This worked great for me for about a year until the solar panel died and I cannot find any pictures info on how to order a replacement. My chickens get locked out/ or in and I have no reliable way to ensure the can get in or out now. I’d love to swap out the solar panel charger with plain batteries or another solar panel replacement.

Works in the cold-have it plugged in and it has been working through some freezing temps reliably. Used for about two weeks so far Previous one (diff brand) used batteries and the batteries drained in the cold and then the unit broke in the spring. Had to put wood around it because the shed wall was warped and I didn’t want rats to sneak in. Easy to install and program.

I bought and installed this over two months ago. It was easy to install and set up. It has worked very well since. Why i am giving it 5 stars is recently a chicken, a silkie who has earned the name HeiHei, has decided to roost in the doorway. This gently shut on without hurting him. Most chickens would have moved and the door would shut all the way. I found him with the door shut as much as it could. It was not crushing him nor could be pushed open more. He would have been able to get himself out if he choose but i had to help, but thats a him problem. The door works perfectly! So if you want a door that will close firmly, give your chicken every chance to move, and be safe sturdy I highly recommend it. As for size we have a mixed flock that includes Brahmas due to a mixup at the store but they fit through the door too.

I was loving this door. Bought in the fall. Then the second it went slightly below freezing the battery died and wouldn't open the door. This happened twice before I cut the wires (as required) to place regular batteries in there. I hated having to cut the wires. Imo this is a serious design flaw. Also if the battery dies and won't open the door, then is recharged you need to manually push the open button. It does not recognize that the door didn't open at 0700 and if you werent home the chickens would not be able to get out until you were.

Lasted several months. We installed before cool fall weather and it stopped working a week ago. We hope for some kind of warranty.

Thought this would be great and it's falling up short. Every day this door opens and it just never closes unless someone is there to help push the door closer. We've tried the solar, battery, and direct line to it and nothing works. Really disappointed.
