I would not recommend this litter to use on a daily basis as it is #1 hard to scoop and the texture is not inviting to my cats. But I do have an available box for my cats to use. The good news is that I was able to monitor a suspect cat that had stone issues in the past. When the litter alerted me to high PH levels I immediately started adding Apple Cider Vinegar to the wet food. I was pleased to see that I was able to take steps to avoid the issue getting out of hand!
Alpha Paw litter is the dustiest litter I've ever used. I wanted to try a low-tracking litter, and was curious about the indicators also. I bought a 2nd time to be sure I didn't get a bad batch the first time. It creates a huge plume of dust EVERY time you pour it in, your cat uses it, or you stir up the litter, and you can feel yourself breathe it in. It also couldn't be good for my cat to have to breathe that in too. The indicators are nice, but I noticed with both bags, that at about 2-3 weeks in, the litter started turning blue yet my cat seemed fine and she is well hydrated since she eats mostly wet food. As soon as I started with a new bag, her litter was back to yellow so guessing it just got overly saturated, even though I stirred it well daily. It did well with odors (but was perfumey as other reviewers mention) until about 3 weeks in when it just started smelling of urine, so doesn't quite last a month. Lastly, 6 lbs isn't enough to cover a large litter box. I had to use at least 1.5-2 bags, so it ends up being very pricey. Have changed to prettylitter and relieved Chewy now has it. There's no dust, no weird smell, and 8 lbs covers the box well
I used this litter for months because Chew didn’t carry Pretty Litter. My cat had had cancer and I wanted to monitor his health. This litter just didn’t last at all. I was lucky to have it last a week. When I saw they had added Pretty Litter I ordered. It still doesn’t last a month but it last at least three times longer. When it is ready to be changed it will started turning green and get soggy. Sadly, I had just purchased my monthly order so I have four bags of this brand. I dread having to endure four more times. Pretty litter is the best value. I use both in my Scoopfree electric box.
Wow, I'm amazed at how much I hate this litter. When I first poured it out, a literal dust cloud erupted and actually hovered above the box for minutes. I inadvertently inhaled a lot of that dust, which was made even more unpleasant by the strong perfume odor. In fact the perfume was so overwhelming that I just had to dump the litter out entirely and go back to my old litter because I couldn't stand it, even from a room away. Total waste of money.
I usually use the “pretty” alternative to this litter but it isn’t available on chewy so I figured I would try this out. The amount of dust this litter produced is astonishing. It created a cloud every time I scooped or the cats used. The smell of this litter is also very strong. It can be smelled on my cats and throughout my entire house after they get into the box and sift around. If you are looking for a good alternative to the prettier litter this is not it.
I decided to try a new litter and found the worst litter I have ever used. It is SO DUSTY! And it does nothing for trapping smells - in fact, it has its own gross smell that mixes in. I hate cleaning it and my cat hates using it.
I agree with others saying the litter is dusty. Which is very concerning since it is silica. It doesn’t dry out like other silica litter, so I’ve had to dump/replace a lot sooner than other brands. I will avoid this product in the future.
just got this delivered and excited to test it out. really cool concept of managing your cat's health with color coded urine. it's really fine, sandy material that's really easy to scoop through. however it's SUPER DUSTY when you're scooping. questionable how good that dust is for you and your cat's health to be breathing in. if your cat loves digging, expect this stuff to be flying everywhere!! still seeing how I'll like it after using it for a while, whether it's worth a repurchase or not. just had to put a review on here for how DUSTY the litter is. my cats seem to enjoy using the new litter though!
Genius litter is as good as Pretty Kitty litter only cheaper. Does all the same things, including keep away the urine smell, and it dries up the poop, so there is no odor. Very easy to clean. We Love it!!!!
Cant even scoop the litter without the whole room filling with dust. Cant breathe and now am having respiratory issues. Awful product.
