I used this shampoo to try and bathe my dog, Moose, today. The product comes in 2 parts, a reusable aluminum bottle and a shampoo concentrate powder. The box and bottle both give instructions for mixing the powder with water. They want you to put 8 oz of water in first, add the powder, shake, then add another 8 oz, and shake again. Due to the bottle not being see through at all, it made it very difficult to tell if I added the correct amount of water. When it was time to use the product it says to wet your dog and then apply the shampoo, lather, let sit for a minute, then rinse. It was extremely difficult to dispense the shampoo from the bottle. Due to the aluminum you cannot squeeze the bottle at all to aide application, you just have to shake it profusely. It was not easy to do and definitely not easy to apply to my dogs legs with one hand because I have to hold Moose's collar with the other. Overall, I was not a fan of the product for Moose. The only positive was the pleasant, not overwhelming, vanilla scent.

If you wing it (like I did), you fill the container about halfway, and you can only guess by peering in the top of the bottle, then add the powder, then shake. But now you have so much suds that you can’t tell how much more water to add. So you wing it again, add more water and shake. Then you stick your finger in the container opening and try to move the suds to see if the bottle is full, but you can’t REALLY tell. Anyway, I proceeded to coax my habitually reluctant pooches into the tub (one at a time) and after wetting their coats, apply this shampoo. But it’s pretty thin, so I had to use what seemed like a lot (compared to other dog shampoos). I do have product left, but who knows how much because the container is aluminum and I can’t see how much is left in the bottle. It didn’t suds up on their coats very much. Having taken college Chemistry, I know that suds aren’t an indicator of how well a soap cleans, but I do enjoy some good foaming-action, even if it’s just psychological. They seem clean and smell better than before their baths. Their coats are soft, but after my Golden Retriever’s coat dried, he looked like a cross between a lion and a baby chick. Lol And that’s even after applying his usual after bath conditioning spray.

The lather is minimal and very easy to rinse. My biggest complaint is the reusable bottle. You can not squeeze it!! It was very annoying. My dog doesnt mind bathing but for a dog that is totally against it, the inability to easy dispense the soap would frustrate an owner.

We had just gotten a 9 wk old Shar pei whose odor was a little off from being with all her littermates. She really needed a bath, so this was the perfect chance to test the Alzoo shampoo. A few days later I gave her a second bath. I am very pleased with the results. She smells so much better and her coat is so soft. The shampoo makes good suds and rinses out well. I will definitely keep using it, on her and on my other two dogs.

When you run out you just need to buy the powder packets. This shampoo left my dogs coat feeling so soft and smooth. And the smell was very nice too. He has pretty sensitive skin and this shampoo did not seem to bother him at all.

I was also concerned about the scent, I'm not a fan of vanilla AT ALL but this was mellow enough that it didn't bother me at all during bath time. The scent did linger a bit afterward, so I can't say I would pick this scent again just due to my distaste for vanilla. All in all, it mixed well, scent wasn't too strong, suds rinsed out of both my long hair and short hair pups well.
