When switching to an American Natural Premium Formula, a gradual transition is recommended, but not required. Start by adding a small amount of American Natural Premium pet food to your dog's current diet while reducing the amount of the old diet. Increase the amount of American Natural Premium for 7 - 10 days until the transition is complete. For sensitive dogs, we recommend a 10-14 day transition.
The dogs absolutely love this dog food. We will continue to order it.
My dog has been on this food a while. I noticed a while ago the food had changed size and feel. I didn’t think much of it as she still ate it but she’s had more stomach issues recently and has acid reflux and I’m going to make a change. I don’t know if they changed the food or not but it’s time for a change.
The bags I purchased in 2022 have not been consumed. My dog wouldn't eat it anymore. Something changed in the formula. I had been using this for the past 6 years without any problems, but now am looking for another brand. I liked that this was pea- and legume-free but if my dog won't eat it anymore, it's a waste of money. Disappointed customer.
I have to feed this to my dogs because her their sensitive stomach. It was ok but they starting not to like it after eating it for about a year. The sad part I noticed is the price keeps going up. I'm hoping to find a cheaper food that they will actually eat for a cheaper price!
How did the dog food we’ve been buying for years with Chewy go from $64 in April to $80 in June!??
We had been feeding our dogs this food for the last couple of years and the dogs always seemed happy with it. That is until the last bag that we received. Something had obviously changed. The pieces were darker and smaller and most importantly smelled totally awful. It smelled like the oil in the food had gone rancid. We are down to one dog now and she would not eat it. We had to throw the entire 40lb bag out. Reading recent reviews, I can see we aren’t the only ones to feel this way. It’s a complete shame that American Natural Premium changed something that was so great and they have lost a customer.
My picky grazing dog used to love this food, but something changed. All of a sudden the kibble got bigger and my dog got the runs. The next bag was the same big kibble and the last bag we have now is back to the smaller kibble with a dusting of something on each kibble. She had belly issues again. We're now switching to something more dependable. I worry what we've been feeding her the last couple bags.
I have been feeding my dog this food for years and she always loved it but since I received the last bag I bought, it has changed shape and color and it smells like it’s expired. I don’t know how to describe the smell. Kind of smells like cardboard but worse.. My dog seems like she only wants to eat it when she is so hungry she has no choice. I have come home from work to see that she hasn’t eaten her breakfast or has only eaten half of what I give her in the morning which is not like her at all. She is fine otherwise but I feel bad and don’t know if I should make the gradual switch to another brand or hope the next bag is better and stick with it?
My dog/dogs have been on this food for several years and love it. Never any stomach issues.
I wanted a new dog food that was legume free for our Golden, she was not crazy about the food she was eating. So far she seems to love this food and runs to the bowl instead of sniffing and walking away.
