Better than expected!
We were uncertain about a vegan dog food, but our pups (a lab / pit bull / collie rescue mix and a golden doodle) are crazy about the food! We have been using it
We were uncertain about a vegan dog food, but our pups (a lab / pit bull / collie rescue mix and a golden doodle) are crazy about the food! We have been using it as a topper / mix-in with our regular kibble because the size of our dogs makes feeding exclusively canned food too expensive, but Olive, our pup with a sensitive tummy who is often suspicious of new food, won’t eat at her kibble without this sweet potato food added to it! (We may have created a bit of a monster!)
Surprised Dogs LOVED it and it helped their tummy

She loved this food, it did not make her tummy get bad, she actually was bouncing around for the bowl. I did share some of this food with a rescued pup that was dumped out in the desert in a broken blue tub with 6 newborn puppies surrounded by coyotes. The people who saved her were needing donations and this food did wonders for her. If your dog has problems eating (especially older dogs) you might want to try some of this You may be pleasantly surprised. It is soft food, healthy ingredients and a flavor that your dogs will like.

We've given a little bit at a time as a topper on kibble and our pup seems to really like it. I don't think I would feel comfortable giving a dog vegan dog food exclusively, but it is nice as a little added extra

This does not seem to be a bad product. It smells okay and looks like it has healthy ingredients in it. The problem is my dogs won’t eat it. I’m not sure if the problem is the texture or the taste, but they didn’t do anything other than lick it a couple of times and then wouldn’t go near it again. I am not sure what the issue is as I don’t see anything unpleasant about it. Sadly this will be getting donated to my local pet shelter as my dogs refuse to eat it.

I was anxious for my very picky eater to try this food. It provides plant based protein and is ethically sourced. It appears to be a very healthy food. I have 2 dogs. One will eat almost anything and the other, almost nothing. The picky eater does love sweet potato so I thought the Pumpkin and Sweet Potato formula might be a hit. The food looks fresh and smells just like the ingredients. There is none of that nasty preserve gel that I’ve seen with other canned food. The first time my dogs tried it I mixed it with their regular food. My picky girl wanted nothing to do with it, but my big guy (115 lbs) reluctantly ate most of it. The next day I gave it to them as a side dish (totally separate from their other food). Both dogs ate their regular food first but then, even my picky eater ate the Ami. I then started adding it as a side dish every day. It was more of a hit or miss. Some they both ate it and some days, my picky girl would leave it. That said, she is not even a fan of most fresh food that is home delivered. Finally, I started feeding it only every two or three days as a side dish and this worked best for us. They eat their regular food first but will eat the Ami afterwards. It’s not something they seem to crave, but I like adding it to their diet for the health benefits. Given its price, it’s not likely something we will stay with. I believe I can get the same health benefits with foods they are more excited about. As a side note, I was dog sitting my neighbors dog and got permission to have him try it. This dog absolutely loved the food. He would eat it before touching his regular food. He licked the bowl clean and was looking for more. She has tried it a couple of days now and has decided to add it to her dog’s diet twice a week. She says it is helping keep his stools more regular whereas they used to be a bit hard. I’m giving three stars because while it’s a good, healthy food choice, it’s not palatable for all dogs and it is quite expensive. It is still worth a try as every dogs taste buds are different.
