Very sturdy. It's a special occasions collar not an everyday collar but would certainly hold up great as an everyday collar. The spikes are significant real spikes. We use this for walking in areas we aren't familiar with in case of loose dogs. I had a previous at large dog attacked and the spikes may have helped him had he been wearing a spike collar. It's very effective a protection for their neck but also not great if they are just goofing off playing with a people or another canine because they are actually spikes. Beautiful collar

I have 5 of these lap killers an they r plush an sturdy at the same time. The only wear iv experienced is when they turned one of them into a chew toy.
