Fantastic low-maintenance option for an aquarium and indoor gardening. Setting it up was simple, and it fits perfectly on my kitchen counter. The best part is that it doesn't require any water or filter changes (been over a year in fact). The fish waste fertilizes the plants, which then clean the water, creating a self-sustaining system. All we need to do is feed the fish daily. Fun for the whole fam! I haven't added a light but ornamentals have been growing like crazy!

No tank

You need to make it more clear that this $160 item does not actually have the tank. Don’t hide that down in the reviews you cheats

Not so easy!

My 8yr old got this as a gift for her birthday. I've been doing tropical fish and aquatics since I was about her age myself. We had an awful time adjusting any plants we found and during the adjustment period a piece of the spider plant broke off and I didn't know. Mold ended up getting into the entire system and wiped out all her poor fish within days. We spent so much time testing the water and multiple places saying they couldn't understand what would wipe out an entire tank. At first they blamed new tank syndrome. We did a 30% water change every few days and added more fish and a week later they started looking sick. That's when I found the mold and the minute I changed to a regular filter the fish started looking MUCH better. This set up is over my head AFAIC. We had to toss the substrate. My plants are in cups. Even if you think you can handle it.... I'd recommend not bothering. It's a great concept and I'm pretty disappointed it didn't work.

Over priced

This item doesn't include the 10 gallon tank, so buyer beware. The total for this system cost me close to $200 (to add a tank an additional $45).
