    It Works just fine

By techsuperhero on Nov 14, 2021

Once you set the correct water lever and dial the right flow it does work.removing then putting back the collection cup needs forceful pressure. So that pushes it down and you have to reset the water level. Other then that it works.

    Not consistant

By Danielle on Feb 24, 2021

It is next to impossible to get this thing right. It has been nothing but a pain in the butt! On the bright side, it fits in my biocube perfectly. The only downfall is that the pump doesn't put out consistant flow so I can't keep it dialed in. So... its next to useless.

Chewy is great. Product is terrible.

By Dblacknjman on Sep 8, 2020

It overflows like an insane amount. I did all the mods. Nothing. It didn't matter what I did to it. I had it so far out of the water the vent was sucking in air and it still filled the cup in under 30 seconds. Thank goodness it was cheap. Buying something else next payday. This was a waste.

Too bad I can't give it a zero

By jdsreef on Feb 8, 2020

I purchased this, knowing that when they are new, they send a lot of micro bubbles into the tank, and make a lot of noise. I did the noise fix that I found everyone was doing, worked good. Micro bubbles went away after about 2 weeks, all is good. Now a few months later, micro bubbles are back and no cleaning or waiting has helped, and they are worse than ever before. By far the absolute worst protein skimmer I have ever used

    Making a difference already!

By Phil on Nov 25, 2019

There's a learning curve to these things but after asking a friend how to use this correctly, it's working great. Came pretty much set up. Once you get passed the break-in period and figure out the dial setting that works for you, it's great. It's been picking up a lot of crap, the water is getting clearer and so is the tank. Lots of bubbles in the beginning but once it broke in and I figured it all out, it's a lot better.

    Does the job

By Arame on Oct 9, 2019

Ive had my skimmer for almost a year now and it works great but there are a few flaws. It is a little noisy but most skimmers are, it does produce a lot of microbubbles so it’s best not to put it in the display. I did the airline mod and it helped a lot with the noise. Water levels must be consistent or else it doesn’t work properly so either be on top of evap or get an ATO.

    Works, but tough to break-in

By Drew on Aug 20, 2019

The price was the deal sealer. This protein skimmer works just fine. My only complaint is how temperamental it is, and how difficult it was to get it working just right. You need to keep in mind that it is a micro skimmer so fine adjustments go a long ways. I was about to send it back but then googled some reviews on it and figured out how to set it up just right...here's what worked for me. First I did the airline modification to quiet it down, refer to YouTube for that. Now setting it up you need to make sure that the waterline is right above the lowest outflow rake. If it's too high or too low it has problems. I also put a rubber hose on the flow knob to allow for easy tuning as the The price was the deal sealer. This protein skimmer works just fine. It keeps my 20 long display and 20 long sump crystal clear. As I stated it works but you really have to play around with. Read some articles on the various modifications like the airline mod, adjustment mod, and magnet mod to hold it to the tank. As with all skimmers I wouldn't recommend using one unless you have a sump or AIO to keep the water level at a constant. … more

    Don’t Buy waste of money

By Floyd on May 7, 2019

Where to start the list is long. Set up protein skimmer following the directions. Set it up with suction cups as the clamp didn’t fit the tank in the set up suggested. Started the skimmer and went down hill further. Attempted to adjust the flow as all the way to small cup for the waste would fill up. The valve was closed completely and all it did was produce foam. Ran it over night and wen I woke up it’s was at the bottom of the tank worked all day attempting to slow the rate the cup would fill up ever 2-3 minutes. Basic problem is the motors to powerful to have proper adjustments to reduce the foam. Need more secure mounting. Don’t waste your money.
