can the 50 watt be safely used in a 3 gallon fish tank?

Answer by ChewyMar 21, 2019
The 50 watt can be used in 3 gallon tanks and tanks up to 20-gallons. To ensure it will fit, compare the dimensions of your tank to the measurements of the heater which are 1.375 x 1.375 x 8.75 inches.

can I use two 50watt heater in my 20g tank?

Answer by ChewyApr 03, 2021
The 50w heater is rated for tanks up to 20 gallons. If you choose to use (2) 50w heaters or even a 100w heater, there wouldn’t be any issue. Just be sure when using 2 heaters, have them on opposite ends of eachother, not close together.

No visable damage to heater or box. I have never had a problem with any of my aquaeon products. I love aquaeon. But this heater. Ugh. I pulled it out of box. Put it in the tank. Let it submerge 30 minutes or so and then plugged it in. The light flickered and never came back on. I left it plugged in for at least 4 hours and it never came on even though the water cooled enough that it should have turned on.

Works great!

Bought this heater several years ago and it did its job, so I’m sticking with it. Also it’s a great value for the price.

I really liked this heater for the short time it worked-- about 4 months. I sized up in the wattage compared to my tank size with the intention not to overwork the heater to maintain the right temperature in the tank. This morning I found the tank temperature had dropped by 20 degrees (!) and the heater wasn't working. I'm going to try a different brand next and hopefully the heating element holds up longer.

not for big tanks

I had to buy a second heater for my 55 gallon tank because it didn’t adequately heat. I’m sure if would be ok for small tanks though.

Great heater

Best heater I’ve ever used and I’ve tried many! Use the 50 watt for a 20 gallon long Betta tank. Keeps water at perfect 79 degrees.

This is by far the worst heater I have ever invested in. I placed it in a 75 gallon saltwater aquarium two days ago checked this morning and it is completely full of water and has put toxic chemicals inside of my salt water tank killing all fish. Do not buy!!
