Fighting algae

I have a lot of live plants in my fish tank, and algae was loving it. It was growing like crazy on the glass, the plants, the gravel. I believe these filter pads

I have a lot of live plants in my fish tank, and algae was loving it. It was growing like crazy on the glass, the plants, the gravel. I believe these filter pads are working reducing phosphate, so algae slowed down growing. I see very little on some plants, but not on the glass or the gravel. Will definitely purchase these pads again.
