Cord Breaks after a while.

So the filter itself works good and everything, just gotta replace the filters of course as needed and maintain your tank. The reason I only give it 2 stars is because

So the filter itself works good and everything, just gotta replace the filters of course as needed and maintain your tank. The reason I only give it 2 stars is because I've had about 5 of these filters now, and every time what ends up breaking on them is the cord. It just rots away where it meets the water at and eventually the cord twists right off the filter. This wouldn't be a huge problem as I can just reorder, but I seen today that this filter is now worth $50 bucks and I'd maybe pay lole 30 tops with the cord issues it has. It does clean decent, but with just a turtle in a tank you're gonna be rinsing that filter many times a week, even at the appropriate size. Not a bad product, just for the price it only gets 2 stars from me.

Worked Great For A Year

I bought this filter because it didn't hang off back of tank. It has good flow to stir a 40 gallon long tank. It seemed to clean good, but I found after a couple

I bought this filter because it didn't hang off back of tank. It has good flow to stir a 40 gallon long tank. It seemed to clean good, but I found after a couple times of pulling out of tank plastic molded clips that hold filter basin onto pump would just separate. Pump would still work just had to be careful. Now, I had bought extra filters to change over time. Just now, after a year of use pump made a grinding noise then flow dropped. I suspected since I was cleaning tanks it was dirty. I like the magnet that is pulled by motor which reduced moving parts. I took it apart thoroughly cleaned put back together still flow non existent on this filter. I suspect that the tiny motor has failed. It looks like an rc motor. It spins but not strong enough to pull water through filter anymore. I am now looking for a new one now and I have extra filters for a dead filter Motor is cheap which is why it has one star.

I don't generally leave reviews, but I was so impressed with this product. I am using two in a 55 gallon aquarium with a sand bottom. My last filter broke down a few weeks ago, and even with water changes and manually removing the waste, my tank was looking bad off. I positioned one on each end, driving water flow towards the other side. It's a pretty powerful, quiet filter, easy to install with a slender profile so it doesn't take up too much room and looks nice in the tank. After a few days of running, they've picked up all the loose waste. I am planning on buying another in a smaller size for my 29 gallon.
