Design
The item is beautiful and somewhat functional but the sunflower seed (that is designed for this feeder) does not come out easily for the wild birds) in the deep
The item is beautiful and somewhat functional but the sunflower seed (that is designed for this feeder) does not come out easily for the wild birds) in the deep cold Maine conditions. I believe the seed gets frozen and clumpy making it difficult (for the small bird who winter here) access to the seed.
Very Poor Assembly
When it arrived, the internal cable loop which attaches the lid to the base was not connected. The aluminum crimp sleeve was crimped but the wire loop was not inserted
When it arrived, the internal cable loop which attaches the lid to the base was not connected. The aluminum crimp sleeve was crimped but the wire loop was not inserted into the crimp. I managed to open the crimp, insert the wire loop and recrimp the connector. I filled the feeder and it lasted two days. This morning the feeder was on the ground. Inspection revealed the wire crimp for the top hoop had pulled out. The feeder is now bent from its impact with the ground. I am extremely disappointed with its construction!

BIG seed needed
I didn't realize that this feeder won't work for my little wild birds with the seed I have. Small wild bird food falls right through the mesh. Bummed.

Seed capacity
I like that this can hold a lot of sunflower seeds. I have quite a few birds that prefer this seed and I like that I don’t have to fill it up all the time
