I thought this would be a good tool to help my dog heal.
My veterinarian put the brace on my dog and it fell off before we got home. The second time the strap broke. $300 and it did not last one day.

The brace is too difficult to put on due to the poor design with the velcro strap attachments. The velcro is not sewn on and when trying to attach the strap, it moves. It was also confusing to know the exact placement that the screw needed to be secured to the brace. The brace can be harmful to your dog if not properly put on, so unless you are a vet or highly knowledgeable in the use of dog knee braces, I would not recommend this product.

STAY AWAY! CAUSES PRESSURE SORES AND THOUSANDS IN VET BILLS! BALTO BLAMED CHEWY

My dog had a CCL sprain so I bought this brace ACCORDING TO THE SIZING GUIDELINES provided by Balto. They recommend no more 12 hours a day after ramping up use, I never had my dog, Paris, in it for more than 8. My dog developed pressure sores that got infected. After an emergency vet visit (that they said any later could have resulted in possible amputation), and over a $1000 a growing later, Paris is recovering. I informed the company and they told me they hope she gets better and to remember to buy future products DIRECTLY from them and not chewy. When pressed more they blamed me for not sizing it (I did and they are free to measure my dog to see I ordered the correct size) and chewy for selling the product. Chewy got involved and suggested I ask Balto to help cover the vet bills directly related and when asked Balto responded that I am trying to extort them and I can talk to their lawyers. WORSE COMPANY EVER. Do yourself a favor and get a custom fit brace

The item itself is constructed with high quality materials and appears to be something that would be highly effective with some trial and error. The user manual was very simple and easy to understand without over-complicating things. With that said, getting this item to fit properly is a feat. All of the adjustments that potentially have to be made are by way of tiny screws. To make a small adjustment, all the screws have to come out and then you put them back in once you have them in place. If it’s not right, all the screws have to come back out and the adjustment has to be made again. I had to remove the screws several times to make minor adjustments. It took me a lot of time and patience only to get to the end and realize that the brace was just simply too big for my dog. I used the measurement chart on this website to be sure that I was getting the right size for my dog. Based on the chart, I ordered the XL. This thing was nearly too wide and way too long for him. It was a very frustrating experience for me being that my dog has been in pain and limping for a week and this product was delayed twice in shipping. I was very disheartened and disappointed to learn that this brace simply wouldn’t work because it was too big. Ordering online is always a crapshoot but the fact that the sizing chart is inaccurate is incredibly frustrating. I ended up immediately taking my dog to urgent care so he could get some pain medication. We will be looking into TPLO surgery which he has had before on the opposite leg. I just can’t stand to let him suffer and I’m certainly not going to wait another week to get another brace.
Quality brace BUT
The grace itself is great quality but they need to come with an elastic harness to stay on a dogs leg! It keeps falling down

Does Not Work
The brace is not designed well. The bottom is too wide for a dog's calf. The knee support does not stay in place. I am disappointed and would like a refund

My dog tore her CCL. In surgery, they remove the ligament, cut the bone, and add a plate and screws. We opted for Physical Therapy instead. The PT recommended this brace. It is handmade in Italy. Our dog was hopping on 3 legs, but with the brace on she'll walk on all 4. I recommend going to a physical therapist to adjust it. Very high quality and the PT thinks her CCL will heal. She said this brace is nicer than custom braces!
