Better traction, We moved a lot around this winter Texas to Florida, Ohio everybody has hardwood floors and Annabelle 12 year old senior rescue English mastiff has a bad Rear end, these give her a better grip to get up and down and walk they seem to mold into her foot much better than the other brands and styles!
Very disappointed in these dog shoes. I was unable to find the dog shoes I previously purchased so chose to try these for my 60 lb dog. I didn’t think it would be an issue, but these are difficult and time consuming to put on my dog. The slit in the back of the shoes where it doesn’t fully connect makes it difficult to slide them on without a nail getting caught or sticking out. The velcro is nice that it is stretchy, but far too long and seems very very poor quality.
Fearful of floors to brave pup
My 70# labradoodles has always been scared of slick floors (wood, tile, laminate, Etc). He has weak back legs and when his paw hair is long he slides all over the floor as if it is lava melting beneath him. We wanted to get rid of our rugs and these were the best way to avoid a crying pup. He is able to walk with two on his back paws without slipping. Gave him confidence and prevents him from injuring himself due to his anxiety. They are well made neoprene material with two adjustable velcro straps to fit appropriately. We ordered size large and they fit well. He is able to go up and down stairs with them on too. Bonus is that they will keep his paws clean from dirt/ snow/ ice. Any labradoodle owner knows how tough it is to clean their paws esp in the winter! Would highly recommend even through they are not chew proof.
Worked well all Winter, just follow instructions!
If you're like me, you spend hours agonizing over reviews and get stuck in analysis paralysis. I never bought dog booties before so I eventually just too a chance on these. It worked very well, with some caveats. First, I carefully followed the sizing instructions. Yes, it is a pain. It is. But I saved myself buying the wrong size. I would've guessed medium, but the numbers said small for my 26lb cavachon so I trusted it. Next I got him used to putting on the booties and walking indoors with them. I drilled and rewarded him frequently, just like a new trick. That took a day. After that and the next couple days, I realized I needed to train myself in properly putting the shoes on and wrapping them tightly so they don't fly off. It's like shoes on a kid, they'll fidget and you'll worry they're too tight. But it beats losing a shoe in a field! Now that we both have training, the booties are easy and secure. These are excellent for cold. In below freezing temps, my boy develops snow cones for feet and tries to levitate after three minutes of walkies. But he can go 15-20mins no problem dead of Winter with these booties. The grip of the rubber sole does help a lot, but you will still slide on ice if you're zooming. And the neoprene/wet suit material does resist water well enough even to go in moderate rain for a few minutes without needing to dry paws. But it isn't 100% water proof if you're looking for impervious rubber rain boots. So unless you need a full on snow shoe to walk on a frozen lake, or 100% waterproofing for some reason, I would recommend you just try them out and follow instructions. There could be a better choice I guess, but I wish I'd saved myself some hours and just went with what looked good and started measuring those paws sooner.
Sizing chart not correct
It’s part my fault. I saw couple other reviews where the sizing chart was wrong. I measured Kodas paw. It was 2 inches. Well within the parameters on the chart for a size small. Received them and didn’t come close to fitting her paw. Way too small. Good luck getting the correct size
LOVE LOVE LOVE THESE!!
These are so nice! They slip on and off easily! Our St Bernard has a huge foot and the XXL fit his paws well. We found that only the top strap around the ankle is needed to keep them securely on his foot! Highly recommend these!
Not For Me
Under other circumstances, these may be a great product, but for LaRoo, who is knuckling under with a front foot, the nonskid sole that wraps up over the toes catches on carpet, ground, everything, causing him to stumble even more. I happen to have two pairs, in two sizes, as my first order was too small. Happy to share or return them! Anyone?
Booties that work!
These booties stay on very well! Even when they start to slide down and start to look like duck feet, the velcro help keep them on the foot since they since around the thinner parts of the ankle above the "meaty" part of the paw. They don't fall off! I had no issues with snow/water getting inside them since they have rubber soles and thick neoprene-like fabric. I even used them once when my dog had a sore in between her paws... I kept them on her during walks so that dirt wouldn't get into her wound, and when we were inside so that she wouldn't lick the sore and make it worse. They worked well until I left her unattended. After a few minutes left alone she chewed off the plastic hinge used to fold the velcro over. Thankfully they're still useable even without that plastic piece!
My crazy labradoodle in his most hyper state was able to keep all booties on, they do run a little bit big. Maybe the Medium would have been a better fit but overall great product.
Free to Roam
This is the second pair of Bark Brite boots we've purchased. The first pair lasted at least a year - they began to wear out after lots of hikes and roaming around the woods (i.e., normal wear and tear). Note that the wear was NOT on the paw pads but the cloth between the paw pad and the first Velcro strap. This time we also bought the next size up (i.e., Large to XLarge), just to make it easier to put the boots on. Mack truly enjoys wearing his all-weather, all-terrain booties. When we bring them out and put them on he gets excited because he knows it is time to go out on an adventure. I noticed that Bark Brite slightly redesigned the boots since our first purchase. The most noticeable was to strengthen the padding between the paw pad and first Velcro strap. And second was lengthening the two Velcro straps. Both were great enhancements.
