Will the contents inside the backpack stay dry when the dog goes swimming?

The pouches on the backpack are water resistant, not waterproof. If fully submerged, the inside of the pouch will get wet.

Is the vest a floatation device without the packs buckled on?

The vest has a slimmer built in flotation without the pouches. The pouches just provide extra flotation.

Perfect Beach Pack

Our 10 month old, 58 lb Doberman mix pup loves the beach. We already had a life vest for her but we decided to get this one for her because of the removable side

Our 10 month old, 58 lb Doberman mix pup loves the beach. We already had a life vest for her but we decided to get this one for her because of the removable side packs. For our beach day, she carried her own things to the beach and then we took them off before getting in the water. The orange color is extremely visible against the waves and the material is perfect. It doesn’t hold onto the sand like our other life vest. It dried quickly in the sun and then we just shook out the sand. She was able to play comfortably in it without it being restrictive. The large was perfect almost completely tightened on the chest.
