Does the water tank used really need to have a 72 inch depth, or is that a typing error? If it is a typo, what is the minimum depth the water tank needs to be?
What size hold does the threaded connection need?
I live 8n the N.W. & was wondering if I put a heater in rhe 5 gallon bucket I'm using will the water freeze in these devices?

Nice large water cup!
It should work great as I haven’t tried it yet. I definitely want to place it high so that chickens will stretch their necks to drink and not fill it with feces

It kind of works

I have bought this unit four times. I use it during the winter to put on top of a heater plate in a bucket so that the water stays unfrozen. The first one worked beautifully until the end of the season when it stopped working I bought another one ,that one worked but then it kept overflowing so I bought a third one and that one seems to be working okay. I bought a fourth one just in case because it's only been my second winter and I only need it for one bucket. I have to say the plate that I am using does keep it thawed out so it does stay unfrozen all winter. The question I have with this unit is when it does stop working I follow manufacturer's instructions of cleaning it and sometimes it works and sometimes it does. As long as the chickens are getting water that's my main concern.

Do not buy
I have bought 3 of these over the past year and every time I turn around for no found reason they don't work. I'll be gone for the weekend and come home to my chickens

Poor Design and Quality - Broken
There is too much weight in the plastic cup and water for the slender plastic tube to hold it to the bucket. It broke and is unuseable.

Poultry Maxi cup
Doesn’t work very well. The cup is really small so I still lug a bucket of water

Disappointed
I was so excited to receive these BEC Maxicup poultry watering cups. I had done a lot of research and really liked that these cups could support two or three chickens
I was so excited to receive these BEC Maxicup poultry watering cups. I had done a lot of research and really liked that these cups could support two or three chickens drinking at each cup. But the design is very flawed. Also one leaked. Dirt must be cleaned out daily, which is expected, but algae & slime accumulate inside the hidden valve area. It is impossible to thoroughly clean without removal and disassembling, including taking out 2 screws. Product was advertised to save time, but does not.
