Benebone Rubber Tug Dog Toy, Green

Our two blue heeler puppies have been able to destroy every “tough” toy we’ve purchased except this one. It is a favorite for tugging and has even stood up to a few chew sessions.

I have a 12-year-old, 47-lb Belgian Malinois/Pit mix. She has a strong bite but is missing a couple teeth, so I'm always interested in durable without being tooth-shattering. This toy fits the bill. It’s not a brittle hard plastic like many “tough chewer” toys—in fact, that kind of toy is exactly how she cracked and lost those teeth. This one almost reminds me of the bouncy, flexible plastic used in horse stall balls—firm, but with some give. It seems tough enough for moderate power chewers, though an 80-lb jaw monster with a hard chewer/grip is going to eventually break it down. Still, I think you’d get several solid play sessions out of it. One thing I liked: its larger with textured "wave" grips on the handles. They give the human a good hold during tug-of-war and probably help the dog grip better too. The toy’s shape allows for different angles and configurations when playing tug, which adds to the fun if your dog is into that. Now, my dog isn’t a great test subject for tug-of-war toys. We’ve only recently started playing that game, and she still vastly prefers stuffed toys—specifically the kind she can eviscerate and "kill" by pulling out the squeaker. She gave this toy a mild sniff and a half-hearted pull, then lost interest. I ended up giving it to a friend with a slightly larger, tug-obsessed dog—and they loved it. It’s been holding up well and getting lots of use. So, while it wasn’t a hit in our house, I still recommend it if your dog genuinely enjoys tug-of-war. It’s a well-made, thoughtfully designed toy that balances durability with safety for aging or sensitive teeth. Just make sure your dog is a tugger, not a shredder.

Love how soft this rubber tug toy is. Dogs have a great time trying to steal it from each other. For my two dogs ( 28 pound dogs ) it’s a little large but not impossible for them to play with. Washes off great and has awesome bounce as using it for a fetch too.., wish I was able to get a picture… the boys left it outside overnight on the lawn and the crows were examining it, poking at it and one actually stood on it in the early morning hour. I went to grab my phone and they had flown off… it was funny tho
