Instructions
Keep the Best Friend Mobility wheelchair clean. Wipe down aluminum surfaces with warm, soapy water using a soft cloth such as a microfiber or cotton rag. Rinse and dry.
Check the bolts and screws frequently; retighten if loose. Adjust or tighten loose straps as well.
Remember to hose or wipe down tires to keep them from tracking dirt.
Wash the sling, harness, and straps in cool, soapy water and hang them to dry. Opting for a perfume-free detergent will help your pet avoid skin irritation. You may want to try odor neutralizers (homemade or storebought) to counter any smell that may remain in the harness.

For pets without the use of their hind legs: while standing still on a level surface, the height of the wheelchair should be set so that the shoulders and hips are even. Please note that when your pet is walking or running, their backs will not stay even due to their movement.
For pets with the use of one or both their hind legs, the wheelchair height needs to be set so that their paws are able to lightly graze the ground and provide them with enough traction to push off with the rear paws.
FAQ
Getting your dog on a wheelchair can help improve many aspects of your pet’s life tremendously. At the forefront are the more obvious physical benefits, your pet will be able to move around, toughen its remaining functional limbs, and fight the other signs of deterioration by improving overall health.
Then, there is also the emotional health aspect. Being unable to move around and feeling helpless is a sure downer, especially for once highly active pets. Giving your pet a chance to walk, run, play, and socialize will do wonders for your pet’s attitude and outlook, which in turn will reflect on his or her physical well-being as well.
Every pet is different. Some pets take to mobility aids the almost instantly while others will need a bit more time to get used to the idea and the actual physical sensation of being on one.
Many other factors such as a pet’s age, the condition it suffers from, general health and strength, and even personality can determine the length of time a pet will take to get comfortable in a wheelchair. Observe you pet closely and follow the notes on the manual.
Yes. Your pet can go up and down some steps with help and supervision.
If your pet is just starting out on a wheelchair, we recommend short durations to get them used to being on one and to strengthen their forelegs. The basic regimen is a 10-minute session of walking while on the wheelchair over a hard surface, twice a day for the first few days. You can increase the sessions to three times a day once your pet has adapted. As your pet develops more strength, you can extend the time it spends on the wheelchair based on its stamina.
An important thing to keep in mind is that pet wheelchairs are not intended for use for long durations. Make the most out of them for your pet by using the wheelchairs for trips outside, playing, socialization, and exercise. After plenty of activity, your pet will most likely be ready to rest and relax at home and off the wheelchair. You also get your pet on the wheelchair more often in a day if he or she needs it.
Yes. Our wheelchair is designed in a way that will not hamper your pet’s ability to relieve itself. Being on the wheelchair and going for a walk also reinforces their “bathroom” schedule.
Definitely. Socialization is one of the key benefits in getting a handicapped pet a wheelchair. While non-wheelchair dogs may be uneasy around a wheelchair in the beginning, they soon get over it and get down to the business of playing.
You can your take your wheelchair-bound pet to a grassy park, the beach, pebbly lakesides, or tramping in snow. Just keep in mind that supervision is key particularly in rougher terrains as bumps and ruts can tip the wheelchair over.

I am incredible dissatisfied by this product. It came missing parts and i couldn't even tell until i took it to my vet and they more or less looked at me said "where's the rest of it?" After a trip to the hardware store to get it straps to make it usable, on our first proper walk in the wheel chair (after about 3 hours of training in it over the course of 2 weeks) the wheel broke off in the middle of the walk. Having the product that supports your dog break on them on the first time you really try using it is completely unacceptable. i could make a better wheelchair with half the price and an afternoon trip to a hardware store.

I was in immediate need of a wheelchair for a small dog and found this one. When it arrived, I found that the instructions did not agree with several places on the chair itself. For just one thing, the front harness was upside down and it was very difficult to change. We finally ignored the instructions completely and found a way to make it work by being creative. When I tried to contact the manufacturer (not Chewy), they were absolutely no help. Chewy has always provided us with quality products, but this one definitely fell short.

Normally I stand behind all of my Chewy purchases but I have to say I am not satisfied with this particular product. I have given it a few months of use but find it is definitely very low quality. The harness is extremely flimsy and difficult to put on our little dachshund. Once on and attaching it to the wheelchair (and have it stay) is unbelievable. Also the bar across the back is not padded and has made a sore spot on his tail (I added padding to prevent further injury.) We a previous paralyzed dachshund and we bought a ‘Canine Cart Corporation’ wheelchair for him that he used for 7 years without any of these problems. I took it out of storage and my husband made a few minor adjustments and he is now using it.

Our 14-year-old (dog) little girl "Maggie" needed help walking. We ordered wheelchair ASAP. Took longer than the 3 to 5 days delivery that Chewy committed to. Claimed delayed due to safety of employees. SAFETY first I agree but not understanding any weather-related safety issues! Food and toys one thing last days due to physical issues should have priority.

I bought this for my dog who has both of his ACL‘s operated on. The adjustments and straps were so many! With some of the easiest adjustments, with thumbscrews, on the element of the wheelchair that was not needed to be adjusted very much at all. where you need the adjustments is on the circumference of the leg around the neck and shoulders and those adjustments required Allen screws straps, Velcro… Etc. etc. I think the vendor who manufactured this got paid by how many adjustments they could include on this thing. One of the key adjustments, which is the circumference of the leg, had no ability to quickly maneuver it around my dogs thighs. It was just a plastic coated wire with foam around it that had a friction system to try to hold it in place. Don’t waste your time.
Cheap material and poor design
For the price, I expected it to be sturdier. First, the assembly is not bad, but there are no instructions included to show how to get your dog into it. Even watching
For the price, I expected it to be sturdier. First, the assembly is not bad, but there are no instructions included to show how to get your dog into it. Even watching their video on YouTube was confusing because mine had "extra" parts that they did not reference in the video. Second, it is so flimsy that my dog bent it out of shape while I was trying to adjust it because it is very unstable until it is fully adjusted. Now I have to send it back to get another one. I'll likely order a different brand. 3rd, the straps have absolutely no adjustment, so if your dog does not fit them exactly, they are loose and allow the dog to fall backward.
Not overly impressed
So far not overly impressed with this item. The front harness loops that are supposed to slide over the bars keep sliding off as my dog walks so she basically walks
So far not overly impressed with this item. The front harness loops that are supposed to slide over the bars keep sliding off as my dog walks so she basically walks out of it. The back adjustment arms the wheels are on don't lock into place well. Have caught the wheels arms sliding out of place which makes the back uneven for my dog
