This contains rawhide - rawhide is a by product of the leather industry not the meat industry, I was recently educated on the topic and was/am very scared for pet owners that are not aware: The following are issues! Choking hazard Dogs can choke on rawhide if they swallow large pieces without chewing, or if the rawhide breaks off into pieces that are too small for them. Intestinal blockages Rawhide is difficult for dogs to digest and can get lodged in their digestive tract. Rawhide can also swell when wet, which can increase the risk of a blockage. Harmful chemicals Rawhide can contain harmful chemicals and toxins, such as formaldehyde, lead, arsenic, and strychnine. Bacterial contamination Rawhide has been contaminated with bacteria in the past, leading to recalls by the FDA.
