I have used this ear cleaner for my dog for years in the small bottles and loved it. It worked very well and my dog did not mind it. But, there is something very wrong with these large bottles. It does smell extremely strongly of rubbing alcohol and burns my dog's ears. She will not allow me to clean her ears when using this. Yes, I do shake the bottle before using and refilling my dispenser bottle. It does not smell or look like the product in the smaller bottles. I will be dumping almost the whole bottle, after a few attempts at using and will be buying a different brand. At a vet visit, the vet mentioned that my dogs normally fine ears looked red, irritated and flaky. I had just cleaned them with this a few days prior. She suggested we stop using this and find another brand.
I'm sorry to say this product didn't work for us. We have a Cocker Spaniel who has caramel colored goop in his ears. He has been to the vet and is on an RX ear cleaner, as he has a polyp and therefore chronic infections. The other ear, however is OK. We are also fostering a cocker spaniel who's ears are the same color after going through his ear infections treatments. With the vet cleaner, we can really get them cleaned out. With this, the cotton balls came out clear on all ears. It also reaks of rubbing alcohol. I even used the vet's cleaner after these cotton balls came out clean, and the others were still dirty. Maybe it would work for a different breed, But chewy refunded our money for us.
I have a doodle and his ears get dirty even with regular maintenance. This stuff is great (comparable to a very expensive brand). Its non-irritating. Overall, I am super impressed with the product.
This is the only ear cleaner that I have used that does the job and there is no greasy residue on the fir around the ear. A big thumbs up
