I have bought two of these ladders and the rungs are not securely attached to the side rails and become detached just by handling the ladder. The plus side (from my birds’ perspective) is that it is easier for them to chew this thing to pieces in only a few days. I won’t be buying this again.

Overall the ladder construction is fine and it works on the play gym the way I planned. However, the coating on the rungs is very rough with a few serious sharp spots that are not good for a bird's foot, especially if they are putting pressure on it to push up. I added vet wrap to each rung and wrapped it enough to cover the roughness so it works but I would recommend buying one with plain wood.
