The feeder is not completely squirrel proof. You can use the siren feature on the Birdfy app’s livestream page to shoo them away, or try adding a squirrel baffle under your feeder for some extra protection.

But the setup and operation leave much to be desired. Instructions are very poor. Most of what I learned about setup and operation was done via various user YouTube

But the setup and operation leave much to be desired. Instructions are very poor. Most of what I learned about setup and operation was done via various user YouTube videos. The support desk chat is fairly good, once the technician slows down enough to understand and answer your actual question.

Wow! I am in LOVE with this bird feeder and have found a new hobby! This bird feeder is top-notch technology and I am so excited that something like this exists. The solar panel and motion sensor camera make this bird feeder worth every penny. It does require you to download an app, but it was free and very easy to navigate. This feeder has brought so much joy into my life and shows in the excitement I get when I get a new notification from my motion sensor through my app! Not only is the feeder app easy to use, but the feeder itself was very easy to put together and get charged up. The solar panel has proven very efficient, and the battery life has been strong even when I check the camera many times during the day. It came with all the needed hardware for however you decide to hang it. It came with straps for wrapping it, brackets for screwing it, and even parts for you to add to hook it to a tripod. This was impressive and helped me quickly hang it wherever I wanted. One of my favorite parts of this feeder is that the camera has the ability to identify different bird species and label my videos and photos within my app. This feature alone has me hooked and anxiously waiting for new bird types to visit. I knew very little about birds before this product and now I can't stop wanting to learn more about them. Not only does the camera have the ability to identify the bird species for you, but it also can identify and alert you to squirrels that are getting into your bird seed. It even has an alarm noise that you can set off to scare those squirrels away! Videos and pictures taken by the camera are uploaded immediately into your app, and the quality is impressive. The videos and images are so clear that when I have shared the photos with friends and family, they mistake them for professionally taken photos. If you are a bird fanatic, you NEED this product. If you know a bird fanatic, they NEED this product! Technology is impressive, and this is proven in this product.

What a cool product! Set up is (admittedly) a bit of an undertaking. While the instructions are provided, written text and images are limited. It does take some time to get it together and the camera takes several hours to charge; and actually installing it somewhere is trial and error. HOWEVER, with all of that behind me, I am thrilled by the camera quality and overall functionality! The motion sensor is quite sensitive and notifies you quickly in the app. It’s the perfect size and doesn’t take up too much space! Living in the city, birds are a little less common, but I’m looking forward to seeing a little bit of “country” in my concrete jungle.

Positives: - Takes high res pics, most without distortion, depending on the position of the bird. Since it takes multiples, there's always a proportional one.

Since it takes multiples, there's always a proportional one. - It does come with some FREE online storage, this can be confusing in desc. and while logging in and signing up. - There is a learning curve to navigating. I think older people like me, especially those with mobility issues would enjoy these closeups and watching for the activity, this can be done, on an ipad or iphone with little difficulty. - It comes with numerous mounting options but choose wisely unless you want nothing but squirrels. - The solar charger works. - Customer service reponds quickly. Negatives: - There are a number of bugs in the android app. Customer service responded but problems persisted for my husband. - The feeder is very flimsy lightweight plastic and would not hold up to any squirrel attacks. - The feeder does drain but the platform obviously exposes a great deal of food to rain despite the little roof. - It's the type of feeder, and there are many, that shells will build up and will need to be removed. With birds being vulnerable to disease platforms that birds can walk in need to be cleaned regularly. - We are struggling with setting the motion sensitity to stop it taking so many pics without and birds in them. Seems to be doing it even on low. But we have only had it a week and I am hoping we can get past this. - I'm unclear of what advantages this has over a wildlife cam being set on an independently chosen feeder. - Patience required during learning curve especially in regard to sharing and dealing with birdless images.

Great bird camera feeder

First off this feeder was very easy to put together and install. The solar panel was also easy. It was great that the feeder came with lots of different options to mount it. It holds more seed than it looks. The camera quality is amazing. And the sound feature is a great feature. The detail you can see on the birds is like viewing them through binoculars. I’m not a fan of the color combination of white and teal. Which there was a more neutral tone. Hooking the camera up to our WiFi was very easy. I have yet to use the feeder in the winter. Will see how camera holds up in snow and cold. But it was done well with rain and foggy mornings.
