where is the food made from?
Answer by ChewyJun 30, 2018
All Blue Buffalo products are manufactured in the United States. Many of their ingredients, such as most grains and meats, like chicken, beef and turkey come from the United States. Lamb and venison can be free range from the United States or New Zealand. Rabbit is sourced from Europe, and trout can come from the United States or Canada. Where possible Blue's suppliers are instructed to source their ingredients from the United States. Where the ingredients are not readily available in the United States, such as many vitamins and minerals, their suppliers will only work with reliable foreign companies, and subject all ingredients to rigorous quality testing. None of the ingredients are sourced from China.

Are the meats in this formula hormone-free?
Answer by ChewyApr 24, 2018
The meats used in Blue Buffalo products do not contain any antibiotics or added hormones.

Too many calories for my dog.

I have to watch the weight on my 90 pounder. This was 65 calories a cup over what he had been eating (haven't been able to get it lately). At 2 1/2 cups a day that adds up. I switched to Freedom and that''s a little closer in calories. He seemed to really like it.

Grrrreat dog food!

My mom gets this kibble for me and I eat it like the champ I am! Just so you know, I was 1 year old on July 20, 2022 and I can now eat regular, yummy dog food. No more of that puppy stuff for me! I love this Blue Buffalo Chicken food and I also get Blue Buffalo Duck Treats. Yum, Yum! Blue Buffalo and Chewy are TOPS in my book!

Almost perfect

My doggy eats grain free and is extremely picky!! She will eat this dry food but she picks out all of the black kibble. For this reason, I will need to change her food again because so much is wasted!

Love this food

I inherited a dog about 6 months ago. He was being give a blue dog food but I couldn't find the same kind locally. We started on the life protection and I found the wilderness so we switched. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! His coat and skin look great. He had dry skin before and no dandruff anymore. He is a very hyper dog. He used two eat two bowls of the life protection and only eats one of the wilderness and is full/satisfied. I highly recommend this for any dog.

Better than the other one I see tried.

I tried this and the FoodBlue Buffalo Wilderness Small Breed Chicken Recipe Grain-Free Dry Dog Food. My dogs preferred this. I'll try the Small Breed again when this is almost gone, but glad to find a nutritious, healthy alternative to what I had been using.

My 14 Year old Field Spaniel eats every bite

Field Spaniels as a breed are big eaters. My 14 year old Black Pearl was rejecting the other brands of kibble food she was offered over the past few months so I had to spice it up with warmed turkey meat to peak her interest and she would still leave most of it after she picked out the good stuff. We switched her to Blue Buffalo and now she eats like a hungry puppy leaving an empty bowl. So glad we tried it!

Trusted Food

Tucker is 9 now and he has eaten Blue Wilderness 9 years. He looks forward to his meals and reminds me if it's past feeding time. He resently had blood work done and received an A+.

This version of Blue is not on the list of foods that cause heart problems. I’m transitioning from Royal Canin Giant Adult which my Danes don’t like because the size of the piece is very big. RC also was having supply chain problems. BW causes very slightly looser poops so I put rice in with the food. I need to use less food since the kibble is in smaller pieces thus more kibble in each serving, which helps with the enormous food budget. I also use the puppy version for the 6 months old German Shepherd.

Hard Transition

One of my dogs had a hard time assimilating to this product.....from american journey. I do mix the brands for the first week and slowly ween off previous product....more than a week in she's still showing signs of digestive trauma.....may have to switch back if this continues.
