Questions & Answers

27 Customer Questions

Where is Blue Buffalo products made and is there ANY part of their products that are shipped from overseas?
Answer by ChewyApr 03, 2018
All Blue Buffalo products are manufactured in the United States. Many of their ingredients, such as most grains and meats, like chicken, beef and turkey come from the United States. Lamb and venison can be free range from the United States or New Zealand. Rabbit is sourced from Europe, and trout can come from the United States or Canada. Where possible Blue's suppliers are instructed to source their ingredients from the United States. Where the ingredients are not readily available in the Unites States, such as many vitamins and minerals, their suppliers will only work with reliable foreign companies, and subject all ingredients to rigorous quality testing. None of the ingredients are sourced from China.

for how long I can feed my pitbull with puppy food, he's 7 months old
Answer by ChewyJan 02, 2018
Switching to adult food coincides with maturity, due to the large variety of breeds, different dogs mature at different rates. Dogs up to 30 pounds mature around 10 to 12 months of age. Medium breeds, up to 80 pounds, mature between 12 to 16 months. Large breeds can mature at 12, 13, or even 14 months old. Giant breed dogs, over 80 pounds, can take up to two years to reach full maturity.

How many cups are in the 24 pound bag?
Answer by ChewyMar 30, 2018
There will be approximately 4 cups per pound of kibble. The 4.5 pound bag will have close to 18 cups, the 11 pound bag close to 44 cups and the 24 pound bag close to 96 cups.

Answer by ChewyJan 01, 2018
This food is specially formulated for growing puppies. Feeding it to adult dogs is not recommended.

Unsure he likes it

Changed from beef to chicken with the BB wilderness. He is not eating it up like he used to. Put extra food in and still a no! Been to vets not sick! Not sure what is up?! He is a puppy!

My dog loves it!

I've given this food to my pup since he was 7 weeks old, he is now 8 months. He has never had an issue with digestion or softened stool. There's always going to be mixed reviews regardless with what food you buy since every dog is different, but i will say this works for my dog. He's very healthy, has a shiney coat, and is very intelligent.

Not for Sensitive stomachs

My puppy ate this food for a couple of months but then developed a sensitivity to it. It caused persistent loose stools and occasional vomiting. After some research we found out that Blue Wilderness uses high levels of vitamins and minerals in the food that can lead to these issues. I would not recommend. I swithed to purina puppy and am pleased with it.

not for golden retrievers

This food has been great for my other dogs when they were puppies. I have a 6 month old English cream golden retriever. Randomly after a few months on this food he got very sick. Non stop diarrhea and no energy. We contacted the vet and switched him to a food with no peas.

Loves the food , use it for training treats too. Recently adopted waffle and not knowing that much about golden doodles I was happy to see how much he deserves the food .

Grain free myth

Bought into the myth that dogs/wolves are carnivores and shouldn't eat grains. That's completely a myth. Wolves diets are primarily meat, but anywhere from 40 to 15 percent of their diet contains plants/fruits/veggies/grain when prey isn't available. I've always heard great things about blue buffalo but for a couple of months my mini Aussie shepherd tolerated it. Then her stomach just no longer was able to properly digest it. Nearly 7 battles with soft stools and diarrhea we visited the vet and before they asked us what kind of food she was eating, the vet knew it was grain free. We switched her diet and she's been eating more and hasn't had any issues with her stool. On top of that there's a bit of research that grain free diets may cause myocardial problems as well so be aware

So far, so good!

I recently got my Bichon pup and she was transitioning from the food she had been on that was no longer available. I was hoping that it would not be a difficult process. No worries! She took to this food as if she had always been eating it. She seems to really enjoy it and so far her stools have been consistent. I rated this 4 instead of 5 stars as I've only had it about 2 weeks. It does look like I'll be purchasing again.

Puppy love

Our 5 month old husky loves this food, he prances, and dances around, and even puts his paw on the dish to let us know where the food goes!

My dogs have been eating blue buffalo for 12 years now. My first dog got started on it because he was missing fur on his back. The vet didn't have any help with why there were symmetrical hair loss patches on his back so a friend recommended BB. Kodas fur grew back. So far I am on my 4th dog on BB and all my cats are on it and their veterinarian diet. My now 6th old cavachon was on life protection small breed puppy but to keep up with his energy I have started him on wilderness puppy. Vet says he is doing great.
