These teff grass pellets have a fresh smell and nice color. They are fairly soft so there is a decent ammount of hay dust which is ok for my purposes as my animals don't mind it but some animals may. Both my horse and goat found them tasty and something to look forward to. After talking to the manufacturer the nutritional data on them are averages from the past several years so the NSC is not guaranteed. I would use this product with caution for metabolic animals such as my horse who is prone to laminitis.

I read in past reviews that these were super crumbly, which was actually the selling point for me. I use hay pellets for positive reinforcement training, and because my horse is metabolic, I’ve wanted to use teff pellets. The problem I’ve had is that I could only find the standlee brand, and those pellets are dense and long. My horse has choked on them numerous times in the past. I was thrilled to find a different brand, but concerned we’d have a choking hazard again. These pellets are the perfect size and they break down really easily which is a plus for us! No choking with any of my horses! However, because they break down so easily, there’s a ton of powder. But I think that’s just the trade off for having a softer and smaller pellet so I’m not complaining!

100% Teff Grass Hay Pellets

My horses, goats, pig and even my roosters can't get enough of the Blue Mountain Teff Grass Hay Pellets. It's 100% fresh Teff hay in pellet form, they love the size and the flavor. The one downfall is the pellets may have been damaged during transit, there was more powder/dust than actual pellet which is the best part since the animals like the crunch. I will order but will put a call in first to see if they could protect the package better. Teff hay is a natural hay which is easy on the digestive system. We have been feeding Teff hay bales to our horses for over 20 years and to our goats for 15 years. I highly recommend Teff grass hay in both pellet and hay form.

First the product came in an unmarked white bag with zero information on it. Because I knew it was coming and had seen the info online I am using it but I certainly hope this is not normally how it is shipped out. I am cutting my grain rations with this and think it's great for that. The horses like it just as much as their grain but I can give them a bit more in their buckets because it's not full grain. It is pretty dusty though and I would feel a little hesitant feeding it straight. The moisture level of the grain cuts down on the dust. I'd say it is 65% decently solid pellets. This isn't something I would purchase regularly but, especially in summer, it is a great way to still get the horses their supplements without feeding a bunch of extra grain that they don't need.

I absolutely love this brand of hay pellet because the pellets are small and crumbly. This forage is also low sugar content so it seems it would be good for insulin resistant horses. But do your research to make sure this will work for your specific Horses needs. I did not soak these pellets as the pellets seem soft enough. But soaking them seems like it would be a good option for a horse that has limited teeth. I cannot say if these pellets break down quickly while being soaked but their texture does not seem to be a hard solid pellet. Rather a light crumbly pellet while still being in a pellet form.

Quality Teff Hay Pellets Equine Feed Supplement

High quality Teff grass feed pellets. Our senior, rescue horse needs extra feed to maintain a healthy weight. The pellets are smaller in size and softer in texture. The size and texture make them easier for an elderly horse to eat them without choking. I like that the feed is one that doesn't make the horse 'hot'. I will purchase again.

Blue Mountain Teff Hay Pellets

I have purchased Blue Mountain Orchard pellets and have been happy with the quality of these pellets. However, I thought I’d try the Teff pellets but was very disappointed

I have purchased Blue Mountain Orchard pellets and have been happy with the quality of these pellets. However, I thought I’d try the Teff pellets but was very disappointed in the quality. The bag was mostly dust and I had to put my hand in the bag and push around to find some whole pellets. I wasted money on these. Will not purchase again.

Very nice and clean. I like the size of the pellets, and the horses gobble them up, even without soaking. I was interested in trying these because I had heard Teff was a very good hay, being higher in protein but lower in NSCs, and they don't grow it in my area. I have a boarder whose horse cannot have Alfalfa, so I think this will be great for her horse. Great for laminitic prone horses also.

I gave this to several horses and I’d say four out of five ate it with no issues. They were easy to soak making them very easy to chew. I even liked the bag they came in because I didn’t feel like I had to put it in a container in my tack room. I shared the product with some other people at our barn who exclusively feed just TF hay and they said their horses really enjoyed it.
