Not enough flakes.

My horse primarily eats T&A but loves getting some extra alfalfa as a daily snack. He was a bit hesitant as this hay looked a little different than we are use to in Florida. The compressed bale was packaged in a heavy duty box with cardboard push in handles which made it super easy to move around prior to unpacking. Now being used as a handy new trash can in the hay room! The compressed bale doesn’t give a perfect flake, but I don’t mind as I throw into a slow feed hay net either way. My horse took a moment sniffing to figure it out. He did his famous head toss at the hay bag to get the flakes to drop, to his disappointment, not many flakes came out. This hay isn’t terribly flakey. I attribute it to the area it is grown in. With the price and my horses disappointment in the non flakey alfalfa, I probably won’t purchase again. I did look and see this company offers teff pellets, a bit more research but glad to find another option for my laminitis donkey.
Beautiful alfalfa hay!

Recently started feeding the alfalfa hay when the weather dropped here in Michigan to my 20 year old Quarter Horse gelding. He gets a flake in addition to his round bale. The hay is very clean with no sticks stones or debris of any kind. It’s green and soft and has a lot of chaf. Which is beautiful and my horse loves it! Highly recommend and would continue to purchase as an extra snack to his round bale.
Easy
I love this hay as an easy, clean option. Sure “regular” bales are cheaper but I didn’t want a giant mess in my feed room while I wait for my shipping container
I love this hay as an easy, clean option. Sure “regular” bales are cheaper but I didn’t want a giant mess in my feed room while I wait for my shipping container to get refilled. I love the box versus the bag variation, less mess. Flakes nicely, horse loves it!
You can get sweet delicious Alfalfa hay in a box
The box of Blue Mountain alfalfa hay is a pleasant surprise. I thought, “alfalfa in a box?” But it’s a great product. Easy to handle for me vs a big 2-3 string
The box of Blue Mountain alfalfa hay is a pleasant surprise. I thought, “alfalfa in a box?” But it’s a great product. Easy to handle for me vs a big 2-3 string bale. The product itself was great. Horse loved it.. easy to flake, smells so sweet. No mold or wetness. We also used some in the chicken nest boxes. Deodorizes the space and keeps the eggs clean and unbroken. I will keep a box or two in the barn all the time now.
Good quality and easy to move without the mess

Yum, Yum!
This stuff is great! I gave him a small taste and he followed me back to the barn. He isn’t used to Alfalfa so I’m going slow with it, but I’m sure if I left
This stuff is great! I gave him a small taste and he followed me back to the barn. He isn’t used to Alfalfa so I’m going slow with it, but I’m sure if I left the whole bale out, it’d be gone in no time. Looks very fresh and appealing. I tried to get a decent picture, but he kept eating it before I could.
