I wanted to wait several weeks before writing a review because I wanted to see how it held up. The chickens love it!! We put 3 of them on the top shelf and kept the bottom 3 the same straw as we normally use. They don't use the bottom boxes at all. They are also not pooping in the top boxes, which I cannot explain, but it must be how firmly the material is held together. When I opened the boxes, I had reservations. Just thought it was another fancy thing for making $--excellent product. I can see this being most helpful for folks who live in cities where storage for a bale of straw is not really an option, but for smaller flocks, I would recommend for anywhere.

I use pine shavings in the Run, and I was using them in the nest boxes, but these pads are really great. They fit in my nest boxes perfectly, and the straw is incredibly clean. They're so thick you can make two out of each pad. The hens hang out in the nest boxes now even when they're not laying eggs, so I think they really like it. So much easier than just buying a bale of straw and putting a handfuls in the nest box. (which I have done before.) First of all this straw is super, super clean. Being pre-sized and pre-cut is just wonderful I will definitely be buying this product again.

I really like these nesting box pads for our chickens! they smell really fresh and you can easily tell that they used really good quality Hay to make them. They are easy to use, i just remove them from the box using the paper bottom as a "transporter", and then put them in my nesting boxes. The chickens like the fresh hay smell, and they make a very nice landing spot for the eggs to fall on and not break! they are soft and bouncy, and they work great! They last a long time, and if the top layer of stray gets messy, i just remove that and the bottom layer is perfectly good for more "egg catching" time. Its great that they are organic too, because I've caught the hens eating the straw! they love them!

I compost my chicken coop bedding so it's very important to me that they are organic. They are separated in the box by paper that are wider than the pads so its super easy to get them out of the box and place then in a nesting box.
Not Worth the Cluck

It’s basically four small flakes of straw separated by paper, and that’s about it. My hens weren’t impressed either — they treated it just like the regular straw I usually use. I love the concept, but for the price, it just doesn’t offer anything special. Save your money and grab a bale from the feed store instead!

As a chicken owner it is a struggle to keep the girls laying in their nesting boxes once they’re not happy with the premises and decided it’s beneath them. This nesting material is great, has a great smell when you first open the box and most important of all, the girls can’t kick it out of the nesting boxes like other materials. I’ve had less cracked eggs and happy hens who lay on their designated spots.

Have to be honest...I'm not very impressed. More importantly, my chickens weren't that impressed. The pads were nothing special, the "Ladies" seemed to prefer regular
Have to be honest...I'm not very impressed. More importantly, my chickens weren't that impressed. The pads were nothing special, the "Ladies" seemed to prefer regular hay vs. the pads. They chose to lay on the hay vs. the pads and laid their eggs only in the hay. So, for me, it's a no go. Sadly.

Only 7 are laying and they took to these nesting pads on day #1. What had been the major nest (I didn’t put a pad there in case they wouldn’t like them) is not being used; all the cool hens want to use the new organic padded nest.
