I used this straw for the inside of my feral cat houses. It's organic and chemical free. The pieces are thick and soft. The box I bought is 5 lbs and it was totally stuffed with straw. It's much easier to manage than bales! It can be used as bedding for a variety of different animals and provides insulation and absorbs moisture. *This is straw, used for bedding. It's not hay which is what animals like rabbits, chinchillas etc eat but Blue Mountain sells that too!

If you’re looking for a natural, eco-friendly option for your rabbit’s home, straw bedding is a classic choice. It’s affordable, easy to find, and creates a warm and comfortable nest-like environment. Natural insulation: Straw holds warmth really well, making it ideal for colder climates or outdoor hutches. My rabbit seemed cozy and enjoyed burrowing into it. Safe and non-toxic: Since it’s just dried plant material, there’s no risk of chemical irritation or harmful dust like you might find in some wood shavings. Compostable: Used straw can be easily composted, so it’s great for anyone trying to keep their pet care more sustainable.

Box was absolutely packed to the brim with hay. It was nicely cut to a good 18 inch or so length and expanded from flake as I laid it into the coop. Very easy to handle and even the broken “fluff” was useful for the bedding. I also used some as a starter for some mushroom spawn that I’ve buried in my garden as a soil improvement. I much look forward to seeing how that turns out.

Good Nest Box Straw

I got this to use in my chickens nest boxes. There's more in box than it appears. Good clean smell. The pieces are wide and long. I cut them in half to better fit
