Feed only as much as your fish can eat in 5 minutes. If uneaten food remains after 5 minutes, remove food from water and reduce amount in future feedings. Feed 2 to 4 times per day based on water temperature.
The last brand I purchased did not float. This food floats and looks like it's better quality. The food is a small round pellet. Maybe the size of, or smaller than, a BB. When I fed them this brand the first time they went crazy. My koi love it!
Our koi and goldfish seem to love this food just fine. I'm surprised by some of the other reviews. I like the two different sizes of pellets since we have a huge range of sizes of fish in our pond. We're not raising elite show quality koi. Most were born in the pond and are basically mutts, but they grow fast and appear quite healthy and this food helps us stay on a budget. The water never gets cloudy, etc. I do buy a couple different brands and mix in a container to give them variety.
Decided to try a new food… My fish are a little picky I have a koi and some goldfish. They will not touch the food. At first feed they swam up they would take it in their Mouth and immediately spit it back out. Now they don’t even pay any attention to it when you throw it in the water I just have to scoop it back out. I don’t feel it’s a very good quality of food either!
This food smells like cheap dog food. Its greasy and has left an oil layer inside all my hoses for my filter and has clogged up the pores in my sponges with this gooey oily substance. I have rinsed and rinsed them and it's pointless I now have to replace my filter sponges. I literally watch my fish grab the food then spit it right back out like it's hot or something I even turned them into sinking pellets and it's the same thing. This stuff needs to go in the garbage. Thankfully I some left of the old food. Back to Tetra!!
I know this is what the breeders of our koi fed them, and our koi are growing and healthy and even a little chubby on this food. We will be continuing to use this, and plan to start feeding it to the goldfish too when they get large enough. (They are pretty tiny babies right now.)
I love the different sizes of pellets. My koi seem to love it.
