Transition to this feed gradually over a period of 14 days by mixing with previous feed.
This is good feed, with a higher protein content than average, and my chickens like it. I like to use pellet form because there tends to be a bit less waste on the ground. The color tends to lean a little toward the gray side and I thought that might be cause for concern, but apparently the chickens don't care. It is my intention to buy Bluebonnet Poultry and Game Bird feed again if the price remains reasonable, as I am highly influenced by price as long as quality isn't compromised. I try to avoid feeds that contain trichoderma reesei. According to the label this feed contains trichoderma longbrachiatum, and reesei is not listed. As a biologist I tend to think longbrachiatum isn't as bad.
I like this feed quail are doing good on it just wish they wouldn't waist a bunch of it. These are adult quail not chicks, I loose about 10% every day.
Florida is season for water fowl. They come and eat all my birdfood. I bought this hoping it would save me buying sooooo much birdseed. They are not enamoured with it. They rather eat more ecpensive food. :-(
I will keep looking for a quail feed. At first I pulled off a few clumps of moldy pellets when the bag was opened. have been pulling clumps of mold out as I continue through the bag. Now as I get to the bottom of the bin I see the feed is spoiled and i will toss about 1/3 of the rest. At first I thought perhaps some moisture had gotten in through the stitching but im thinking it may be in the product. The quail did eat it. I smash it a bit, but i can’t trust that i won’t see this again.
how annoying. If they are bird food pellets, the name should say that.
Bought this feed for my khaki campbell ducks. I was having trouble finding a quality food, locally. This food is a pellet, which is great, reduces waste. My ducks seem to like it very much, and are laying perfect eggs daily.
We enrolled for the auto-ship so we don't have to worry about running out of food for our birds, We are happy that they love this feed, a lot cheaper than buying from Tractor Supply.
Arrived quickly. Stored properly, when reaching the end of the bag (we have 9 head in our mixed flock), discovered mold and had to toss product. It is wasteful and costs us money.
I thought this was seeds but came as pellets... I gave it a try. My birds are ticked off at me. Lol..
My chickens love it! They eat it all every morning
