do you have to put the nail inside the tool or does it grind on the outside?

To use the nail grinder correctly, insert the nail into one of the openings on the grinder's protective cap, rather than grinding it on the outside. The cap has various-sized openings that allow you to gently file the nail down.

Not Right for My Dog!

i thought this would be right for my Showdog. It was not. The slit for grinding it not big enough for his toenails. It does not work for thicker toenails.
