How do you calibrate it?

The calibration procedure is listed below. 1) With the scale switched off, press and hold the “ON/OFF/TARE key, without releasing press the kg/lb key three times and then release. 2) Display will show zero (500~4000). 3) Press “ON/OFF/TARE” key once. 4) Display will show “CAL” and then “0”. 5) Load 20kg/40lbs weight onto the scale. 6) Display will show span count (1250~3750).. 7) Press “ON/OFF/TARE” key again. 8) Display will show “CAL” and then “20.00 kg”. 9) Remove the weight from the scale and the calibration is finished.

This scale has a weight capacity of 44 pounds or 20 kilograms.

Does this measure to the accuracy of 1 gram?

This scale reads by 10 grams increments and cannot produce anything smaller than that. It will not do 1 gram.

Works, but the instructions for calibrating are incorrect

The scale seems to work, but I have to mark it down one star because the instructions for calibrating the scale are incorrect. When I attempted to calibrate it,

The scale seems to work, but I have to mark it down one star because the instructions for calibrating the scale are incorrect. When I attempted to calibrate it, the display did not match the instructions at all. I called the manufacturer and found that several things were wrong with the instructions. One was that the software had changed and the instructions either did not match the new instructions or they had shipped a scale with the old software but the new instructions - it was not clear which. There were other things that were not included in the instructions. Including the correct instructions and making them complete would have required half a page, so there is no excuse for not doing so. Otherwise, the scale does seem to work.

Calibration in kg is inconvenient and lbs display difficult for data entry

One of the answers on Chewy says it can be calibrated with 40lb weight(s) but the manual was super minimal and only talked about calibrating with 20kg. That's like

That's like 44.09 lbs, and we don't have one of those famous 44.09 lb weights laying around. Beyond that there doesn't seem to be the ability to see weights in lbs as decimals (e.g. 1.54 lbs) only as lbs and oz (e.g. 2lbs 8 oz) which sucks for easy entry into spreadsheets. Do wish the precision was a little higher, too. When pups and kitties are newborns, that level of granularity is nice to have!

I spent a lot of money on this because I wanted to be able to accurately weigh my cats. The first frustrating with it, is that to use it, it describes a calibration procedure that requires you to have an exact amount of weight, and of course, it doesn't supply you with such a thing. The calibration process is also poorly described. Without calibrating it, I may as well use my cheap bathroom scale... it's actually more accurate than this is. Very much regret getting this. It's clearly made for vets and industrial usage, not a consumer product.
