How do you set the timer for opening and closing?

The door will be opened or closed according to daylight. Closing light levels at dusk vary with location and direction of installation. The light level that makes the door close may be adjusted: 360 degree turn clockwise to decrease light level (darker). 360 degree turn anti clockwise to increase light level (lighter). (Use a small, flat precision-screwdriver). Adjust by one turn at a time. The adjustment range from the factory setting is approximately 5 turns darker(clockwise), 15 turns lighter (anti-clockwise). Adjusting further than this range has no effect.

can I use on a horizontal sliding door?

This system will automatically open the coop door in the morning and close it in the evening as the light levels change. The auto-stop feature keeps your flock safe in case they’re blocking the door as the sensor is designed to also sense any obstructions blocking the entry.

Wonky at best.

I worked to set this device up for over a week with no success. I highly suggest you drop this product in favor of the Rural 365 model. The Rural 365 model only

I worked to set this device up for over a week with no success. I highly suggest you drop this product in favor of the Rural 365 model. The Rural 365 model only took me an hour to set up and it has worked perfectly ever since.

Chicken poop door opener.

This has worked great but now the string has broke where the bead is. I have had this for around 6 months now. I do t know why the string that can lift up to 8 pounds

This has worked great but now the string has broke where the bead is. I have had this for around 6 months now. I do t know why the string that can lift up to 8 pounds is not sturdier. Our door is around 4 pounds.

Totally unreliable

If it was not too late to return it I would. The door does not have a timer option. Sometimes it would work fine, other times it might be triggered to open fully

Sometimes it would work fine, other times it might be triggered to open fully from a quickly passing car headlight through the trees. Sometimes it would not close. Replaced it after running it 3 frustrating weeks. $65 wasted. I could never trust it to operate on a night I could not be home to check it. Replaced it with one of the newer all on one piece units that uses a timer. My original reason for buying the Brinsea was just to replace my door motor and keep the same oversized metal door. Not worth it. Should've just trimmed in the door opening for the smaller sized door.

Malfunction

Unfortunately the string wound up into the mechanism when I tried to reset it after it malfunction when I tried to turn the light level adjustment, and now I can't

Unfortunately the string wound up into the mechanism when I tried to reset it after it malfunction when I tried to turn the light level adjustment, and now I can't get it loose and the internal piece is not secure so it just moves around (really doubt it is supposed to do that
