With the Brinsea ChickSafe Eco Automatic Chicken Coop Door Opener & Door Kit, you’ll get everything you need to automate your coop and keep your feathered friends safe and flap happy. This system will automatically open the coop door in the morning and close it in the evening as the light levels change, keeping your flock safe from predators. It’s also super easy to install. Just secure the control box to the coop with the included screws and tie the lifting cord to your door. There’s no manual calibration to mess with, and the opener will automatically adjust itself to work with the height of the coop’s door. The included 2 door panels save space and are ideal for coops with limited height. The exterior-grade weatherproofed aluminum offers great corrosion resistance and is plenty strong, yet also light. The two door panels are easy to install with the six included screws. Weatherproof, made with UV materials and featuring just one moving part, the opener is also durable and reliable. It’s equipped with an auto-stop feature to keep your birdie friends safe in case they’re blocking the door. This opener is a fantastic way to know that your flock is safe when you can’t be home to open or shut their coop yourself.
Automatic chicken coop door opener runs on 4 AA batteries (included), operates with a light sensor and requires no manual calibration.
2 door panels of exterior-grade weatherproofed aluminum measure 11.8 inches wide x 7.3 inches tall for a maximum pophole of 11 x 13 inches—2 runners ensure a secure installation.
Durable, weatherproof, UV-resistant opener has a -20 to 120 degree Fahrenheit operating range.
Auto-stop feature helps to keep your chickens safe if they’re blocking the door.
Low battery and door status indicator visible 100 yards away.
I’ve had this for about 8 months now and it’s working great! The changing of the seasons I have to adjust the light sensitivity but it’s easy and my chickens have never been stuck outside
Good idea if it would work.

I cut a 10 x 12 inch square hole, mounted the side rails, mounted the controller, all looked good.
Installed the batteries.... nothing.
The red light blinked every 10 seconds.
Door open, replace batteries is what the directions said. Replaced the batteries,, the same.
Read some trouble shooting ideas. I tried to factor reset, the string broke.
I am returning the unit to Chewy.
Needs manual override

It’s a great concept. But it just doesn’t work. If the door closes at all it’s not until after 10pm regardless of changing the “light” setting. And usually even then it only closes halfway. Very disappointed in this huge waste of money. It was a headache to install in our coop so to remove it and try to send it back hardly seems worth it either.
Dont spend your money

Bought. Installed exactly as directed by manufacturers instructions. Something must be wrong with the unit. Red light flashes every second. Manual say door or batteries. Door works perkect, batteries are new. Will not operate. Waste of money and time. Very disappointed.

Chewy's customer service is 5 start. i want to start off with that. this chicken door opener is not what you want. the first one i had worked for a couple days. it opens the door after it's already way too light out which isn't fair to the birds. you can adjust the time it closes but not when it opens. Chewy replaced the opener with a new one after it stopped working and this new replacement worked ok for a couple days and now it is not opening again... please do not buy this opener if you love your chickens... i will be buying a different one now and from Chewy for sure because they've taken such good care of me this far. this is just a product you should stay away from.
Works as advertised.

I've had this opener for about a month now. Very satisfied. Yes, it doesn't open at the crack of dawn. It is open about 20 to 30 minutes after the sun rises, depending on how cloudy it is. There's a reason that it does not open at first light. It's so it does not open if a cars headlights shine on it or some other source of temporary light. Much cheaper than other options out there. If you register it online you get an extra two-year warranty which brings it up to three years.

The product page didn’t say anything about being used but it’s clearly pre-owned and the package had a lot of packing tape to re-seal it.

It was easy to install... however it didn’t work. No flashing lights to indicate the door was open... motor didn’t kick on briefly when batteries were installed... tried brand new batteries still nothing. Not impressed at the moment.
Basic but USEFUL

this automatic door was very easy to assembl, instructions were clear and easy to understand. The door has no frills. Nothing fancy but man does it work great!! Everyday my girls are let out and every evening they're locked up. The degree of freedom thanks to this door is everything! Best bang for your buck!

Nice product to keep your chickens safe. The Eco is harder to program so I would get the one with the electronic display next time.
